Looking for small VM for DNS, in the US
in Requests
I am looking for the following:
- RAM: 512M
- Disk: 5+GB
- Network: IPv4 and IPv6, 500GB traffic would suffice.
- Price: USD 13 or less per year
- Location: US
Key criteria that the network must be stable. CPU could be slower.
Could someone please help point me? Thanks a lot.

Daddys' yearly promo in NY. Their LA location has some issues ( Subnet only..). It's under $10 a year, btw.
Also @DediRock, stop teasing with just a thanks Give them some links too. Already got 2 emails begging me for them btw.
Have you checked out any of the VPS here? https://lowendbox.com/blog/1-vps-1-usd-vps-per-month/
Hi,
We can offer you the same specs for $13/year, but in Frankfurt, Germany.
If Frankfurt works for you, feel free to open a support ticket and we'll arrange it.

thx for the mention @itzsenu

Thanks!
google free VM + paid extra (over 200GB) traffic?
@DediRock: do you have IPv6 support?
500GB of DNS traffic is a lot!
Are typical slave/secondary services not suitable for you?
My plans are way higher ($5/month IPv6 only, $7/month with IPv4) but I do offer secondary DNS services with that.
@slowservers: Yes, 500GB is a lot. I do not expect to use anywhere close to that. It is just a random figure high enough that I do not need to think about it, and yet lower than many plans on offer. I am not planning to run public NTP on it at the moment, but if I do, it should also comfortably within this bound.
@lwt: Yes, that's an idea also. I will check it out.
@venocloud: Sorry, but this is aiming for N American location only. I may have some other requirements in Europe. I will keep you in mind.
@chitree: Thanks for the reminder. I see that the best priced option there is ServerHost, which is located at Colocrossing (are they the same company also?). I believe Dedirock is also at Colocrossing.
@slowservers: I have learned the hard way over the years, to appreciate the flexibilities that come with running my own DNS servers. For example, GeoDNS support is seldom provided by typical secondary DNS services.
Gotcha!
I think I found one for you, for $15/year: https://tinykvm.com/
yup u can open a ticket or send invoice number to one of his thread...
By RamHost (https://ramhost.us/) a 384 MB RAM VPS for $5/month. I rarely see VPS providers offering Arch Linux by default, and this one even offers Gentoo.
Hello @grayblanket,
Yup! We definitely do
Thx
@slowservers: Thanks a lot for the pointer. Will check them out. Looks interesting. The aim is for reliable network.
@lwt: I don’t think I want to go with the free GCP VM. It reminds me that “when something is free, you are the product”.
@DediRock: Do you run your own network at Colocrossing, or do you simply use network operated by Colocrossing?
Hey @grayblanket,
Currently we utilize the ColoCrossing network infrastructure and operations. As we continue to grow, though, we are exploring more options and locations.
Thx
@DediRock: Thanks for the info.
try @RAVNIX
@grayblanket : I've been running two dns servers on @DediRock infrastructure for a while now and they have been working well, both on ip4 and ipv6.
I have pretty good monitoring and I've not seen a single problem.
Considering what I pay for them it's a steal.
The Houston firehose is just perfect for you:
https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/214556/dartnode-13-99-flash-deal-the-9gbps-houston-firehose-vs-the-5-iops-soda-straw
Make your offer for a service transfer.
Next due date is 2027-03-01.
@rcy026 Thanks a lot for the info.
@yoursunny I skimmed through that thread. I understand that the VM at Dartnode is rather troublesome. Is that correct? If so, it would not be for me. I am looking for something minimal and not troublesome.
Would Toronto work?
@enderhost: Yes. What can you offer?
Hey!
I can put together a custom Budget VPS configuration in Toronto, Canada, to fit your requirements.
Here's what I can offer:
I can offer this for $13/year recurring to fit your budget!
Feel free to message me or open a support ticket at https://enderhost.co, and I'll arrange the custom configuration and invoice for you.
Wait for black Friday offers or pick @DediRock . Perfect for DNS. Won't find much 512Mb offers these days but all within your budget and proven very stable to me.
Hey @rcy026
Awesome and very great to hear
thx for the mention!
Thank you!
Can I place an offer too? "9Gbps" and "Unmetered" is all I need to see 👀 /s
Yes, please offer in USD or pushups.
If I choose to pay in the latter, how may I send Proof of Pushups?
