Your panel code looks opaque and hard to audit, how can we be sure it will not be used as part of a spyware operation? There's a tradition of spying in Israel, can you assure us that your panel is and will always be free from spyware?

Why are you so stubborn? He clearly said

This conversation is over for me. You have a question? Open a ticket: https://github.com/shukiv/jabali-panel/issues/

    (emphasis mine)

which btw. also suggests that a "clear" response from him would be worthless anyway ...

You are not busy, you are lazy, incompetent and malicious, especially malicious, but busy you are not.

I wonder how many people you will be able to fool here, I'm curious.

  • Did you fixed PHP, or wasnt recommended by AI?

He posted his github repo. Where is yours? ;)

A repo full of machine generated code of very dubious integrity, brilliant.

And now a rhetorical question: Do you work for the same organisation that is paying jabali to create what's in that repo? Are you participating in the same operation? (don't lie, you'll get caught)

And I lied when I said your repo is of dubious integrity, I know it's integrity is not dubious, I know what it is and dubious it is not.

It seems to me you are not that lucky. Are you?

  • @stable_genius said: Do you work for the same organisation that is paying jabali to create what's in that repo? Are you participating in the same operation?

Yeah, I get paid from an open source project that doesn't even ask for donations.
Just because I said when you criticize something - at least show your work? Great logic.

Yeah, right, pure altruism. I see.

THERE'S NO SOURCE CODE IN THAT REPO, IT'S ALL MACHINE CODE

Why do you insist, YOU ARE SO STUPID, fuck this.

You got me wondering, is github now mandatory? I dislike M$ quite a bit you know, a github repo would be hard to stomach.

  • @stable_genius said: You got me wondering, is github now mandatory? I dislike M$ quite a bit you know, a github repo would be hard to stomach.

So it's about GitHub, M$, and AI now? Nice attempt to divert the conversation.

With a comment like that, I doubt you even know how to read code, any code.
A source code is a source code - written either by humans, AI models, or aliens from space. Machine code is binary, when eventually any code gets compiled to for the CPU.

    Another...

Maybe, but Jabali is not like the others. Try it, or check the demo. It is a matured control panel that has been worked on for 2 years. I’ve been a sysadmin + developer in hosting for ~30 years. I’ve worked on real production systems and contributed to open-source projects like DTC (Domain Technologie Control).
This project is basically the result of years of experience.

There’s no real pitch or value presented. We are busy. Give us good reasons

There’s tremendous value if you give it try. I’ve been using it since the first announcement here and have requested a ton of features request and almost everything was implemented . The project is extremely stable and any issues are handled by the developer in a timely manner. He has helped me way above and beyond what he needed to do. Early on I asked for docker support and easy access for using a reverse proxy and it was implemented and is the main reason I continued to support this fantastic development.

The source is the starting point, the origin, if you get it after compilation, transcompilation, distillation, AI training, AI prompting or whatever, then it is not the source it is derived.

Do I have to teach English to you now?

Machine code is not the source, it is derived from some source. Capeesh?

    Teach yourself first, I suppose?
Even some AI generated code, is still a proper source code, not machine code.
Machine generated code, might be, as in AI. But to you it probably sounds the same :)

So what, Linus is showing signs of decadence, you should not publicize it.

It's not totally unexpected you know, not truly a shock. I could see that coming.

Wow, you worded it so politely! When I heard about torvalds utterings on ai, my first reaction was "Oops, now he seems to be in a race with greg k-h who is the more [self-censored] of the two!"

But maybe I just missed that he got a kind of ai transplant. Might actually be the next logical step for linux.

    @jabali

Your panel seems to have some attractive features - but I don't care as it's ai slop, sorry.

Yeah, Linus knows nothing about programming or code. He is an AI shill now...

Can you give us some insights on why AI code is bad?

He is an ada programmer so he has to make it sound like he's super needed instead of replaceable.

  • tuxtux Veteran

AI can produce code like "Hello World!" by using your favorite programming language.

Can you show me whats the deal with Gniza?

    @nem

You are so silly, I'm not sure what to think of you.

Not a joke, I'm saying this very seriously. No malice!

  • At this point it is obvious that you are fully aware of the problems with your project, you could fix them easily if you wanted to but you will fix nothing. Worse than that, you will surely add more problems when you have a chance. Now why would one want to do that?

Truth is you are a malicious actor, you are moved by ill intent.

  • @stable_genius said: Truth is you are a malicious actor, you are moved by ill intent.

Truth is - you didn't point any bad thing about the project itself, not even a single line.
Which makes you a troll. Come and show an issue with the code. Or about the developer.

  • @luckypenguin said: Or about the developer.

Can you clarify whether you are referring to Claude or OP?

  • @jabali To prepare something this complex, one must be having good knowledge of linux and lots of patience with AI. Great efforts bro! <3

Btw, its better if you have a forum for user interaction on your website.

  • The parts that interest me most are per-account isolation, the restic backups to S3/B2/SFTP, and the option to start from a minimal install instead of pulling in everything at once. Those are the areas where a free panel usually either works well or becomes hard to maintain. I would also be curious how migration from an existing panel is handled in practice, and whether the demo reflects a current release, since that would make it easier to evaluate before installing it on a real VPS.

It's really sad to see so much hate for open source projects, someone is literally spending time to try to build a product (with or without AI doesn't matter in my opinion).

Could be that a product is shit right now, but eventually in few months will get better if not abandoned, and the point of open source projects is exactly that other people should contribute to the development.

IMHO any alternative to WebPros is well appreciated.

  • A forum isnt a testcenter for vibed stuff. If you get hacked afterwards, your the first victim complaining.

    Hey,

Thank you for your kind words. Well, the github issues github.com/shukiv/jabali-panel/issues
and discussions github.com/shukiv/jabali-panel/discussions are exactly for that.
When Jabali will grow in size, I will self host everything including the git.
