cbrm: an open-source CLI for the BERO HOST customer panel (no API needed)

richcrichc Member

BERO HOST's customer panel has no API, so I wrote a CLI that drives the panel's own forms. It's free software (LGPL-3.0 with a linking exception), on PyPI, and I'm using it for my own servers. Not affiliated with BERO HOST.

What it does (75 commands)

  • Read: status, live stats and history, the action log, the activity list (who did what), backups and their slots, scheduled tasks, addresses and rDNS, console screenshot, ISOs, templates, updates, invoices (incl. PDF download), orders, transactions, credit, tickets with their whole thread, internal networks, firewalls, the mail-port state
  • Change: power, ISO mount/unmount, rescue, boot order, hostname, rDNS, backups, scheduled tasks and their e-mail notification, internal networks (create, add/remove servers, set addresses), firewalls (create, rename, default policies), SSH keys, tickets (open, reply, close), the mail-port unlock request
  • Destroy (needs an extra confirmation): reinstall, restore, delete backup, network reset

What it will not do: nothing that costs money (no orders, renewals, upgrades, IPs, top-ups), no server transfers, nothing on your login's security settings.

Safety

  • every change needs --confirm <vm> and offers --dry-run, which shows the exact request without sending it
  • an allow-list of VM numbers it may touch at all
  • credentials come from a command you choose (password manager, sops, ...); never stored by cbrm, never on the command line
  • it reinstalls only if the panel's form still sends exactly the fields it knows

Try it

uv tool install cbrm # or: pipx install cbrm
cbrm features # every command, read/change/destroy
cbrm status 12345
cbrm backup-create 12345 --title before-upgrade --confirm 12345 --dry-run

There's also a small HTTP API, an MCP server and a Python library on top of the same code.

Feedback and bug reports welcome here. If BERO's panel changes and something breaks, post it and I'll fix it. Also looking forward to hearing from @berohost :)
