No, and I haven’t received any private messages either.
Oh, because I used to get the winning message within a few minutes after replying to a comment, I thought my picture didn't meet the rules or had been accidentally overlooked.
Genuinely curious about this one — I've been looking for a lighter cPanel alternative for a small WordPress VPS. How does AdminBolt handle staging or one-click restores? Either way, fun giveaway, thanks for running it!
you'd better have a try bro.AdminBolt offer the one month free trial!
153 pages now. Thanks @dustinc for passing everything my way, and thanks to everyone testing. I went through your reports and tried them on a fresh install.
@farsighter that's a proper test log, thank you. Glad the WordPress install and your restore test worked. Your list:
@bonbon26 that's the generic message, so the log should have more detail. As admin, open Logs (Executions tab) and search for the correlation ID, the entry has the technical details. Post or DM me what it says (strip anything that looks like a password or token). "No engine chosen yet" just means no web server choice has been saved, so the panel assumes Apache.
@cbbg Softaculous installed and opened fine on my fresh box, admin and client side. Which URL gives the 500? If you DM me, I'll point you to the log that should show why. On RAM: my fresh box sat around 1.3–1.5 GB used across a few measurements, and the dashboard and free -m roughly agreed. The biggest process groups were PHP-FPM, the spam filter (rspamd) and MariaDB. Fair criticism for the low end. And Debian, noted, you're not the only one asking.
@MrEd @MuntedBlub your numbers are in the same range as what I measured. I couldn't get anywhere near 380 MB on a fresh install.
@g292888 I tried both setup paths, and an empty (or spaces-only) username came back with "The username field is required." The wizard pre-fills a suggested name, could that be what you saw? Sidebar items like Customers are groups that fold open rather than pages. Fair point that it isn't obvious.
@LeoNeo password change: confirmed. On my box the tooltip said "insufficient" even for a strong password, and the button stayed clickable. On databases: PostgreSQL is available as an optional module (Modules). A separate MySQL server isn't offered, it's MariaDB.
@oscillation @MuntedBlub agreed, the admin and client logins should be easier to tell apart, that came up a lot in this thread. While components finish installing after setup, the admin dashboard shows an "X of Y components ready" banner. And the dashboard offers to whitelist your own address in Fail2Ban while the whitelist is still empty (@farsighter spotted it too).
@clanboy migration lives under Migration in the admin sidebar. Fair point that it could be easier to find.
@ageminigod for apps beyond WordPress there's the Softaculous module (Modules). I haven't checked whether it has Frappe.
@Arirang the AdminBolt installer doesn't set or change the root password. Disabling direct root login by default is noted.
@zhi @suut EOL PHP versions, a reboot button, picking OpenLiteSpeed/PostgreSQL at install and Docker: all noted.
@Frobsy yes, @cjwolff installed it on his own RackNerd VPS, and new installs get a 30-day trial once you confirm your email during setup.
@cjwolff on the yearly-with-a-discount question: since you're moving more sites over, fill in the form at https://adminbolt.com/contact/ and pick "Partner Program". Tell us a bit about your setup there, that's the way we can look at partner terms for you.
All of the above goes into our backlog. Thanks for keeping it coming.
