[Request] 16TB+ Storage VPS/Dedi | 1Gbps+ | $400-500/2yr | Black Friday
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a budget-friendly storage VPS or dedicated server, especially with Black Friday coming up.
Preferred specifications:
- Type: KVM VPS or dedicated server (bare metal)
- CPU: 4 cores or better
- RAM: 16GB+
- Storage: 16TB+ usable capacity (HDD / SSD / NVMe)
- Network: 1Gbps full-duplex minimum, 2.5–10Gbps preferred if reasonably priced
- Traffic: 100TB/month preferred (flexible)
- Disk I/O: Good random I/O performance is more important than port speed
- IPv4: 1 address
- DDoS protection: Not required
- Location: Europe preferred, but open to other locations
Budget: Around $400–500 for 2 years (~$16.67–20.83/month).
I'm also open to higher-priced offers depending on the specifications, disk performance, and overall value.
My main priorities are large usable storage capacity, reliable disk performance, and stable network connectivity. I don't necessarily need a 10Gbps port if a 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps connection performs consistently.
Older hardware, clearance deals, special promotions, and transferable existing plans are all welcome.
If any providers have upcoming Black Friday offers, or if anyone knows of good storage deals within or close to this budget, I'd appreciate your recommendations.
Thanks!

Won't happen, you need to 2x or 3x your budget.
Same offer if you found I would like to get a dozen for the boys
GLWR
Maybe get a 🥖
@labze 2e/tb
https://hostbrr.com/storageboxes.html
else just gamble OVH and pray
16TB HDD Sure...But NVME? you arent going to get 16TB+ NVME for this price
What was ur usecase? If only used for backup then maybe Hostburr storage boxes + a decent vps?
Mainly for PT seeding and cross-seeding with qBittorrent, not just backups.
HDD is perfectly fine. I'm not expecting 16TB of NVMe at this price. My main concern is disk I/O performance, especially random reads when handling lots of torrents.
A storage box + VPS could work, but I'd prefer local storage to avoid potential I/O bottlenecks.
1Gbps is enough for my needs. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just get a HBD app slot
HostHatch usually has decent storage promos - but they don't have set sale days so just wait for BF and pray.
I got an out-of-cycle promo that I think gives me 14TB HDD (plus small OS drive) for $375/24 months. That works out to $1.12/TB which I think is a really, really good price.
@nikio Looks like we might have the same HostHatch deal! The price is excellent, but disk I/O performance on mine hasn't been great, especially under heavy torrent workloads.
Just curious, how's the disk I/O performance on yours? Have you experienced any similar issues?
I'm using mine for nightly backups and not torrents, so I guess I don't notice a difference.
Generally speaking though if you care about performance (racing) you don't want to be sharing a disk with randos. Dedicated attached storage or a full dedicated server will do you better. Also your peers are just as likely to be slowAF, it might not be a throughput issue (assuming you are not racing).
@sonder
We may not be able to match your requirement for your budget of $400-$500, but we surely can get close to it...
KVM VPS
2 cores
8GB RAM
8TB HDD + 20GB NVMe (OS drive)
1Gbps full-duplex
Unmetered
1 IPv4 address
Location: France
$500/2years
We can match your requirements but at a budget of $500/year (instead of /2years)
KVM VPS
4 cores
16GB RAM
2 x 8TB HDD (can setup RAID 0 on your own) + 20GB NVMe (OS drive)
1Gbps full-duplex
Unmetered
1 IPv4 address
Location: France
$500/year
DM me if interested or if you need to customize/negotiate a deal!
@SmokyHosts
Thanks for the offer!
The 16TB plan looks interesting, but $500/year is a bit higher than what I'm looking for.
My main concern is disk I/O performance, especially with multiple concurrent reads.
Are the HDDs dedicated or part of a shared storage pool? Do you have any disk I/O benchmarks for this plan?
Also, is BitTorrent seeding permitted, and are there any fair-use limits on the unmetered bandwidth?
Would you be able to offer a better price with a 2-year commitment, perhaps during Black Friday?
@hosthatch Any chance we'll see some 16–20TB storage VPS deals again this Black Friday, similar to last year's offers? Would love to see something in that range!
Yeah, you won’t be happy with a storagebox for seeding. Maybe try to get a fitting seedbox from a seedbox provider? Most of them allow SSH on their higher plans anyway.
https://www.seedhost.eu/shared-app-hosting/
You could get a 15TB box for around 344€/yr regularly here. In my experience they tend to participate on Black Friday sales, so you might be able to snap an additional 25% off or something there, bringing it to ~258€, and thus closer to your 500 per two years.
Perhaps there are other seedbox providers offering a better deal, though. But that's what I would think of when the main purpose is torrent, anyway.
@sonder
Below are the disk speeds...
NVMe drive for OS
HDD drive for storage
The disks are 12TB disks and you will be the only one hosted on the disk, albeit the server has multiple 12TB disks, but the read-write of 2 of them will be assigned to your VPS.
Yes, you can seed bittorrent and there is no fair usage limit on unmetered bandwidth.
The best deal we can offer for 2 years prepayment is $449/year pre-paid for 2 years for the 16TB option.
Let me know if you need any further customization/negotiation.
@bluesega I noticed SeedHost now offers 40Gbps shared connections on their HD plans, which looks pretty good.
Do you know what kind of real-world speeds users can actually get, especially with qBittorrent? I'm also curious about the disk I/O performance.
If the disks are 12TB and you are promising dedicated access, why are you only giving him 8tb per disk? It isn’t like you are deriving revenue from the remaining 4tb because there won’t be other users on those disks.
@bobsburgers Just checked HBD's plans. Their larger app slots actually look pretty good, especially the dedicated disk options.
I'll keep an eye on their Black Friday deals. Thanks!
@SmokyHosts Thanks for the details and the updated offer!
$898 for 2 years is still a bit over my budget, so I'll probably wait for Black Friday and see what other deals come up.
Appreciate your time!
@nikio
Interesting question and would love to answer it...
A 12TB HDD effectively gives 10.8 TB usable storage, due to the binary Math. And since sonder requires 16TB storage, it is easier to put 2 x 8TB drives on RAID 0 rather than use one 10TB and another 6TB.
Infact @sonder if interested, we can offer you 2 x 10TB for the same price of $449/year pre-paid for 2 years at best.
I mean, you do gotta keep in mind that HDD max speeds are as they are. But in my experience, they work pretty great out of the box, since it’s always beefy servers with enough spare room. Whenever the swarm allows it, 1-2gbps are usually the standard, on rare occasions even going to around 3.5. But that’s usually when peers or disk run out of breath.
@bluesega Thanks for sharing! 1–2Gbps sounds pretty good for HDD storage.
My main concern now is the 30TB monthly upload limit, since I'm planning to seed quite a lot of torrents.
I'll keep an eye on their Black Friday deals. Thanks again!
Are you seeding or racing? If you're seeding normally even with regular HDD is fine, you don't need huge I/O. If you're racing, then that's different story.
@kkoneko Mostly long-term seeding and cross-seeding across multiple private trackers, not really racing.
The main issue is the large number of torrents. When multiple torrents are active or being rechecked, disk I/O becomes a bottleneck, especially on shared HDD storage.
That's why I'm looking for better disk I/O performance.
Do horizontal scaling
@rpqu That's an option, but I'm trying to keep the costs down. I'd prefer to get better disk I/O from a single server if possible.
@sonder, that's unavoidable due to current state of BEP. Your choice is either shard your storage or get a dedi/colo.
As example, a used 99.8% health (TBW) 2TB NVMe costs like $200-400 a piece.
You cant pay a peanut and get a limos. Esp when current limo part having price surge on market
