Should we make the next giveaway mobile friendly?

Sure, I'll be trying with my tablet+keyboard attachment to see if it's possible to actually use for these things (In the past, I either used my actual laptop or a chromebook)

Good practice by the way! :) Nice work.

Editing to void (in case we can win multiple times). It's weird using a tablet+keyboard, I do think it's possible but I might be sticking to a more taditional computer if I'm actually looking for a win or the speedy checkout for a flash sale

Here's what I'm using just for fun

Sadly, the linux container in android is currently not working (ticket wtih samsung is currently under review with their dev team) otherwise I'll probably feel better about using it compared to a regular laptop. At least trying the linux container on my phone, I do feel that once it's working on this tablet, I can replace my laptop for most things.

Hahaha, nice set up! At least you know it is still possible to achieve on mobile/tablet. Good workout/practice for the upcoming holidays for sure :)

cPanel/WHM for me too — and yeah, that x3 theme is a proper time capsule. I still remember opening WHM for the first time and just staring at that wall of icons, too scared to click anything in case I took down a live site. 😅

The weird part is how much of the fundamentals I picked up without realising it — DNS zones, mail routing, cron, all of it. I had no idea what half of it was doing back then, and only understood it years later when I finally started doing the same things by hand.

So it's fun watching the panel space get interesting again. The job hasn't changed, but the way we do it has — and honestly, I don't miss juggling a stack of add-ons just to get a site online.

Anyone here start on something older than cPanel? Would love to hear the war stories. 👀

Hi @XQPUUU -- Hahaha, amazing how those screens became second nature over time. Then you start doing things through the CLI and finally connect the dots on what the panel was handling for you.

Agreed, it's fun seeing fresh ideas in this space again :)

Let's keep the conversation going! What was the very first web hosting control panel you ever worked with? :)

For me, it was cPanel/WHM -- back when it looked something like this. Anyone else old enough to remember the cPanel x3 theme? 😂

Good times! It's wild how much hosting has changed since then, and seeing panels like AdminBolt bring fresh ideas to a space many of us have worked in for years makes me excited for what's still ahead :)

What did you start with, and what do you remember most about it?

I remember using it and also remember byet cloning that exact same theme for their in house panel some vista panel i guess.

Hi @TrK -- Hahaha, thanks for the blast from the past! I remember VistaPanel haven't heard about that one in long :) That familiar layout really stuck with people. Funny how one screenshot can bring back a whole era of hosting memories, I love the nostalgia!

cPanel/WHM for me too. Seeing that x3 theme again is a trip, and it's nice to see newer panels trying fresh ideas after all these years.

Hi @gooliver -- Seems quite a few of us got our start there! :) That interface brings back memories, but I'm enjoying seeing what comes next too. Was it for a personal site, or were you already getting into the hosting business?

Ha, mine was cPanel too, that x3 theme gives me flashbacks! Staying up this late for free VPS and nostalgia, zero regrets 😄

    LOL, love it 🥰

Yeah, it was always cpanel for when I used hosting.

Hi @PuDLeZ -- Same here! :) It felt like a different era when Nick Koston was at the helm. IMO, there was a passion for the product and a close connection with the hosting community that really stood out.

I get some of that same feeling from AdminBolt today, with a modern foundation and fresh ideas. It's encouraging to see developers as founders and owners, directly involved in building the product and listening to the people using it. That gives us plenty to be excited about!

My first hosting control panel was cPanel, back when shared hosting was still incredibly popular. I still remember how exciting it felt to manage websites, databases, email accounts, and files all from a single dashboard.

Looking at the old cPanel x3 theme really brings back some memories. The interface might look outdated by today's standards, but there was something charming about its simplicity.

It's amazing how far the hosting industry has come since then! 😄

That feeling of getting your first site up was something else! :) Glad the screenshot brought back some good memories for you too.

    Haven't witnessed that..

Hi @Balgator -- Have you always been more of a CLI guy, or did you get started with a different panel? :)

Hi @chengrose -- That name doesn't ring a bell, though I may have come across it before and forgotten! I'll have to check it out -- thanks for sharing!
