How does the cancellation work for yearly Netcup vps in case of renewal ?

My netcup yearly vps was ending on 11 september. I cancelled it on 24 August. Now, I still got the invoice for next year renewal. I checked that their cancellation date shows 11 October, not 11 september. I have mailed them to cancel the invoice but still no response.

I know that they have 31 day prior notice to cancel it which I missed. But I also heard that in case of renewal of contract there is a German law that you can be charged only for one extension month. So, Ideally I should be charged for 1 month from 11 septemebr to 11 october.

They are German company and they hand over unpaid invoice to debt collection.

I have no issues with paying if they guarantee the prorated refund. Or they rectify the invoice.

Depends on the amount of debt, but yes. They won’t for a 100€/y VPS, obviously.

If it is a legacy one with old pricing, just offer it for transfer.
Those are in high demand and someone will be willing to cover your costs to get it transferred

Just ask their support, they respond in 1-2 days.

I believe their days were 30 days in advance, or something like that. Your's was 18 i think so when you hit cancel on screen there is given date when the service will be cancelled. So you know at exact time when you hit the cancel button.

    Yes. As they should.

You are right about the German law that after first year limits the renewal to 1 month, but you still have a 1 month notice periode.

Since you most likely got a discount for paying yearly, the system renews yearly, so you keep the old discounted price. This is legal, but on cancellation the law dictate that they have to give a prorated refund.

The law is relative new, so the terms might be different if the contract was made before Marts 1. 2022.

Their response time on tickets are long at the moment. Their CEO have recently mentioned 8 days, so give it some time.

If it is a G10, G11, or G12 with a good YABS result, you can get rid of it in less than an day, if you advertise it for transfer here on LET or on Netcup's forum.

You'll be charged only one month from 11/09 to 11/10 (assuming that you did indeed cancel the server from 11/10)

I'd pay the invoice that they sent you. They're not going to run away with the rest of the money, and they'll offer you a refund for the rest, but this may take some days

What are the specific specifications of your Netcup yearly VPS (CPU, RAM, and storage)? Perhaps you could transfer it to me. Thanks.
