My only RackNerd server is in Ireland.

    Good for you.
    You wanna sell it?

Did they stop selling in EU? I didn't even know it was rare.

I'll sell for $22,500 for fruits and vegetables.

I go trough their vps range regularly and I've never been able to chose a EU location.

Turns out it was a BF deal. IP is on 23.95.167.0/24 (incorrectly reported as the US on some feeds, AS is HostPapa). Since RackNerd is a CC reseller, many other CC resellers also have Ireland. I know ServerHost does, unless it's OOS.

Which VPS do you consider to offer the best value for money?
    ;)

None of those. I really like my @tpoll / Server[something, sorry forgot] VPS which is quite amazing bang per buck, cheap, and surprised me positively.

Also like @forest I was quite happy with the @dustinc / RackNerd VPS I had a while ago. And I also plus-minus agree with his views on the other providers (though I wouldn't buy from @DediRock)

As it came up: my little Virmach still runs and has been quite reliable.

@rcy026 The RN VPS I once had was in Ireland ;)

Update: a big fat - for @dustinc filling half pages with serial posts. Seems to be infectious (looking at DediRock)

They're all CC resellers right? My personal opinion:

    • RackNerd: Never had any issues with them. Support is responsive and they're cheap.
    • ColoCrossing itself: They don't really give a shit about individual VPS owners. Support sucks and is slow.
    • DediRock: They're chill but they terminate you if you appear "too advanced" for them.
    • Cloudcone: No idea but everyone says they suck.

Thanks for sharing this - also glad to see we're delivering whats wanted and needed :)

Always got respect for you guys, when I was broke student that yearly web deals, helped me pass, but also start my career thank's bois I should really by a VPS or so with you again.

Mine used to be. Been shit posting forever to earn it. Then found a coloncrossing partner to offer it for half the price .

Still have both. Its a good location.

I've had some vps's with Racknerd since they started and I have no complaints. Rock solid and low prices. Support has always been fast and nice.

rn support is really pleasant to deal with, there's companies i spend a shitton more with that could learn a lesson from them.

DediRock had some issues in the beginning but lately it's been running smooth. Still kind of new but looks promising. Considering the price they deliver way more than expected.
You always get a nice answer and it genuinely feels friendly.

can i ask if you're using their $8/yr or whatever it is? almost weekly i almost grab one to finally see if they're ok but i talk myself out of it because at that price it can't be good, right?

if you've never tried it might be worth poking @dustinc via dm here to see if there's something he could do, that's all i'm gonna say!

  • RackNerd is a better deal overall

I have one of their $8/y, even have a $6/y. Also have a storage and some other vps, all dirt cheap.
As I said, there were some issues initially but lately they've all been running fine, actually really good. And to be honest considering the price some issues are to be expected so not even mad about that. I'm not at all surprised that there are issues at this level, I am more surprised how few they were and how good it has actually worked since.
If you are looking for dirt cheap I cant think of anyone else doing it better.

For transparency, I'm not really putting much load on them so cant really say how they perform under heavy load but I use two of them as monitoring nodes and they have not missed a single packet.
The storage one takes a beating occasionally when I decide to send half a terabyte of backups to it, but it just takes it without complaining.
