Anyone here using One.com for VPS? Curious about your thoughts

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to dig up info on One.com's VPS offerings but honestly I've found surprisingly little, even considering they only launched this service in 2024. Had to figure out a bunch of stuff myself that they don't really advertise on their homepage, which is a bit different from what I've seen browsing other VPS providers' pages. Fair warning: this is my first VPS service ever, so apologies if I come across as inexperienced.

From what I've gathered, they're reselling Dogado.de VPSes based out of Dortmund, Germany. All the plans except the smallest S option seem to be a couple dollars/euros cheaper than Dogado's equivalent tiers, probably subsidised by One.com's other offerings like domains and managed hosting.

I went with the M plan at $9.99/month, which gets me 4 cores, 8GB RAM, and 200GB NVMe. All plans include unlimited 1Gbit traffic supposedly.

Still in my first month, running Ubuntu Server 26.04 LTS. For my use case it seems way underloaded - I'm running the backend for a AI chat app prototype (really low traffic) and a Fabric Minecraft server with some performance mods and a TPA plugin, otherwise vanilla. Though to be fair the MC server only has me and one IRL friend playing, and I'm proxying the AI backend's API through Cloudflare Tunnels.

Checked the CPU info and it's not particularly impressive but understandable for the price. It's reporting as AMD EPYC-Rome (Zen 2, so a few generations old at this point), 4 single-core entries (1 core each, no SMT siblings), each clocked at a modest 2.0 GHz base with 512KB L2 cache. Supports the usual modern instruction sets (AVX2, AES-NI, etc). Nothing to write home about but gets the job done for light workloads.

Main issue so far is latency when playing Minecraft. I expected higher ping by going with a European VPS instead of something closer like Mumbai or Singapore, but it's slightly worse than I anticipated since Dortmund isn't exactly a major internet hub. Getting around ~215ms from Lahore. Not a dealbreaker for a casual MC server with friends but worth noting.

Anyone else have experience with these? Curious what others think, especially if you've been running heavier workloads.

Yeah, I did use one just so I could write this post quicker tbh, but all of the points I brought up here are my actual experience... I guess if you just take my word for it :P

If you can't take the time to write your own post, why should we? Why do you think your time is more important and worth more than everyone else's?
