Well, I don't use LET for my datahoarding activities as storing over a petabyte even on the cheapest provider on LET would be inaccessible. I'm just a student and not that rich 😭
But, I really like the idea of an umetered bw VPS I can host all my services and apps on. So yes, I do have high bandwidth and high CPU usage but storage is not a huge requirement for me atm. (I only need object storage / etc. for serving to others)
Just dedicated servers are so expensive to rent and it's so expensive to purchase servers too... 10Gbps is so expensive... I'd rather just use a 10Gbps shared port from a budget VPS provider
I'm also someone with high bandwidth and CPU requirements, but you need to know that unmetered is usually fair-use unmetered, meaning there's no hard cap, but you still have to be a good neighbor. My personal view is that "unmetered bandwidth" should never average more than 100 Mbps (33 TB/month). If you need more, make sure you've either asked or the plan explicitly gives you a higher monthly limit. But 800 TB in one month is definitely excessive.
Then I might as well get a 100mbps or 1Gbps w/ 10Gbps burst VPS?
It usually means the provider lacks the technical skills to properly setup the throttling system.
Professional provider has clearly written throttling policy.
High cpu usage is one thing, but 10gbps BW costs is expensive. So, it's better if you get the baguettes .
Monthly cost for 1PB storage is roughly equivalent to 20gbps
So uhh anyone can match Skrime's price that's willing to take me on? 🥺 Message me on Discord same username as here 👉🥺👈
Remember, I'm not rich
Get whatever speed you want, and try to keep monthly usage under 100 Mbps average. Doesn't matter if it's 400 Mbps for one week out of the month or 100 Mbps sustained all month, or 90 Mbps sustained and brief 1 Gbps bursts. Just try to keep the overall monthly use low.
If you need a lot of bandwidth, ask first to get clarification.
Or rather, pay hourly and cycle quickly 😼
Antarctica IPv9 VPS is unmetered.
You can blast the port 29 hours per day, 8 days per week.
Uptime isn’t ideal, but it’s only 7🥭/month cheap price.
Not a LET provider, but try https://unesty.net/. It needs KYC. I didnt verify, so I got suspended, but they gave me 10 days and I had no issues with the service ( expect the fuckinng DDoS system )
402TB transfered
Reserved my instance! 🥭
Just because you're not rich, doesn't mean you can act without restrain.
Socio-economic shouldn't be a justification
Btw you put http://https:// on that link
Thanks. Gotta flag it to mod/admin
Ouch, 5 minutes too late for editing
Hey, come on, I followed Cloudblast's terms of service 🤷 Why put it on me 🥺
Expensive.
10Gbps dedicated we charge 700€ a month.
1PB Storage would be 1000-1300€ a month.
My Skrime server has been suspended as well for high cpu usage but ticket helped and I adjusted the load, so running great now.
That's why they update their ToS, because it exceed the product design. You are familiar with this phrase, right?
That's why we can't have nice things@forest Fair question. Throttling would keep the node stable, but it doesn't solve the actual problem. A VM that needs its cores at 100% around the clock is simply on the wrong plan, and a VM throttled down to 75% steal isn't really usable for the customer either. So we suspend, talk to the customer, and unsuspend once we know what's running and how it will be handled, which is exactly what happened here.
Did this customer happen to wait for a reply before making their thread or make their ticket and instantly a thread to attempt a public shame towards you ?
The reason throttling may be better is that, if combined with an automated email, it gives the customer the opportunity to rectify it themselves. Sometimes a customer might just not realize how much CPU they're using.
Agree, throttling most of the times results in angry tickets.
Even tho I think for CPU is more feasible than bandwidth throttling, CPU pinned at 100% can be throttled to 50% usage for few days, bandwidth abuse almost never utilizes 100% of the resources but it's constant and draining.
A notification ahead of any action is generally something I would recommend.
This way the customer can take care of the issue without you / the provider introducing unneeded downtime for the customer.
Like, I personally would be a little annoyed if my provider shut down my service, just because some process got stuck.
@xHosts Pretty much at the same time. The ticket and the thread came in within moments of each other.
@forest Fair point for the case where someone simply doesn't realise. In our experience though, a VM sitting at 100% permanently is most often one that's been compromised, usually through a weak password, and then suspending straight away is the safer move for everyone, the customer included. We're around most of the time, so the wait afterwards tends to be short, and we've handled it this way since the start, always together with the customer.
unlimited != unlimited
This is leading me more and more to do LET validation of orders and refusing orders from people who act like this who will instantly create a thread before allowing anytime at all for a review of the issue
Now we know he doesn't just use high bandwidth, he also does 100% cpu
LET hosts be aware, he might just cost you 1000$ by paying 2-3$
