Cloudblast bandwidth policy update
in Providers

Comments
Exodus in progress.
good change
Original VMA11 and VMA21 had 10TB; so basically you went from 10 -> Unlimited -> 5. That "unlimited" is unsustainable could be understood (however, everyone could predict that it'd attrack heavy users - they didn't?), but returning to a limit (no, not fair use, it's a limit) that is half of the original one is stupid.
Blame folks trying to push 100TB through a $4 per month VPS. I do think that providers who sell "unlimited" are culpable here, but users have got to be reasonable. "Unlimited" really means "some reasonable number if you are actually using the resources on the machine to do something other than proxy your IPTV service's traffic."
Nah, unlimited should mean unlimited. Provider's fault.
yea, someone basically shared here ss with 500 tb usage on cloudblast
Though maybe that "unlimited" thing was part of their promotion
or i though maybe they have good contract with their upstream
but since their performance is ass (ordered lowest plan in Netherlands and got 300 gb6 score few days ago, someone shared yabs with same performance in yabs thread) the only feature they can offer is hourly billing lol
If this is true, then this does seem like a bait & switch.
Hi yes that was me, I did push 500TB through in a month.
Any good alternatives? @xHosts perhaps?
I’m not a customer, but, throttling to 100mps or 25mps after the stated bandwidth allowance would be preferable.
We aim to work with the clients needs
A few of our clients here could probably verify they have been with us a few years and push a fair amount of bandwidth
Can you offer 10Gbps?
We will be bringing 10G VPs soon once some of our nodes are upgraded to 25G ports at switch level
if you advertise "unlimited" guess who's going to respond to that marketing? people looking for unlimited.
if you advertise unlimited hoping the people looking for unlimited would skip your offer, you're just not very smart.
edit: this dynamic where "we" blame the customers for buying what's on the tin is really aggravating.
I'm biased but I agree!
Blame the provider promoting their own "Unlimited bandwidth" services in threads asking explicitly for no FUP:

So in the end, they got blasted i guess?
Already it has started, goodbye my wallet.

There was no notice period?
No, it was immediate with no warning. They've started billing already, the notice was sent only a few hours ago.
"Effective immediately"
I wish they would've at least given me a day or two to migrate off their services.
Would tell em tough luck
Your VPS was paid hourly or monthly?
I had some paid mothly but they were converted to hourly. So, all hourly at the time of the change. However, this change was made for all customers, regardless of whether hourly or monthly. A friend of mine paid monthly and had this change immediately.
Oh boy. I'm sure they gonna have fun with that. I'm gonna get my 🍿 ready. What an outstanding move.
Yeah, maybe not the best move. I mean, it makes sense why they would do it but, at least give folks a warning y'know?
yea xhosts is good option. They got solid 1G or 2G unmetered vpses. Also OVH is a good option, no bw issues.
You undersell it. Changing the terms unilaterally on a monthly contract, effective immediately, is quite the move 🤣
I'm trying to work something with them right now
Have been very happy with them in the past.
Yeah, though honestly I don't see any reason why anyone would purchase monthly in the first place. My friend who purchased monthly did it by accident/as a mistake, it is only a few cents more expensive to purchase hourly
