Looking for a Hetzner Alternative? Compare Our Cloud VPS

Hey LowEndTalk,

We know Hetzner is a popular choice around here, so we thought we'd make it easy to compare what we're offering at CubePath.

If you're looking for an alternative for your next VPS, here are some of our General Purpose plans:

1 vCPU · 2 GB RAM · 40 GB NVMe · 3 TB bandwidth
$5.56/month

2 vCPU · 4 GB RAM · 80 GB NVMe · 5 TB bandwidth
$9.61/month

4 vCPU · 8 GB RAM · 100 GB NVMe · 10 TB bandwidth
$16.71/month

8 vCPU · 16 GB RAM · 200 GB NVMe · 20 TB bandwidth
$30.90/month

All plans are billed hourly, with DDoS protection included.

We've also put together a full CubePath vs Hetzner comparison if you want to take a closer look.

New to CubePath? Use code EYG37EFYG and add $10 to your account. We'll add an extra $20, giving you $30 in balance to test the platform.

If you're currently using Hetzner and want to compare a specific configuration, drop the specs below and we'll compare it with the closest CubePath option.

It's just $10 for six months.
    No, less than six months.

We use a multi-homed blend of Cogent, Lumen, GTT and Telxius, depending on the location. You can see the full breakdown here: https://cubepath.com/ip-transit

    Cheap is

  • Activities prohibited on CubePath Inc.'s servers and network include, but are not limited to, spam, email header manipulation, service disruption, launching DoS/DDoS attacks, operating network booters, IP spoofing, botnets, IP/port scanning, and hosting open proxies, TOR relays, or exit nodes.

I get banning exit nodes, but why non-exit relays?

An alternative to Hetzner, but cheaper. The discount comes with a side of censorship.

Seems like it. I wonder if they just misunderstand non-exits and think they come with the same abuse risk of exits, if they don't realize that relay bandwidth can be capped, or if they're just virtue signalling a disdain for privacy.

It's popular for dedis, not VPS.

AMD EPYC + NVMe cloud servers matched to Hetzner CPX and CCX specs, tier for tier.

Match their bandwidth, c'mon. 20TB minimum for all plans, up to 60TB for the others.

  • Looks like a vibed website. Also I think Hetzner's generous traffic allowance is one of their pros.

    Thanked by 1vpsproman
  • I guess you can't have your email server here either, since email servers manipulate email headers.

  • Do you support placement groups like Hetzner does? If so, I’d love to give it a try.

You don’t accept cryptocurrency payments and require account verification with a credit card. I’m saying this because most providers here offer crypto and don’t require credit card verification.

Thanks for bringing this up. We do require a card for the initial $10 account verification, but that $10 goes straight into your balance. You can then pay with crypto for future top ups.

With the welcome code EYG37EFYG, we add another $20 in VPS credit, so you start with $30 to try CubePath.

You can still pay with crypto after the initial card verification. The $10 charged during verification goes into your balance, and with code EYG37EFYG we add another $20 in VPS credit. So your first $10 gives you $30 to try it out.

Yes, we do. In CubePath they’re called Availability Groups. You can place VPS in a group when deploying them, and each one will run on a different physical host within the same location.

    Here’s how they work: https://cubepath.com/docs/products/deployment/availability-groups

We’d love to hear what you think if you give them a try!

Good point on bandwidth. The post only lists four of our smaller General Purpose VPS plans, so it doesn’t show the full range. We also have plans with 40 TB, 60 TB and more. For example, gp.pro includes 16 vCPU, 48 GB RAM and 60 TB of transfer for $80.58/month.

The smaller plans don’t include 20 TB each, but if transfer is your priority, you can see all the options here: https://cubepath.com/pricing

Thanks for pointing out that we should have made the wider range clearer in the post.

If someone is using cryptocurrency, it's specifically because they don't want to use card (or PayPal).

So that kind of defeats the purpose...

You can run an email server on a CubePath VPS. The restriction on email header manipulation refers to abusive or deceptive use, not the normal headers an email server creates.

Outgoing port 25 is blocked by default. After you’ve had the VPS for one month, you can open a support ticket to request that we unblock it.

You’re right. If the reason for using crypto is to avoid cards entirely, requiring one for the initial verification defeats the purpose. Thanks for explaining it so clearly. We’ll bring this feedback to the team and review whether we can offer another way to verify accounts.

You’re right that non-exit relays are different from exit nodes and don’t carry the same abuse risk. Our current policy still doesn’t allow Tor relays of any kind. It’s a general decision about the risks we’re willing to take on with Tor traffic, not a claim that middle relays work like exit nodes. Thanks for raising the distinction.
