  • Just sharing my experience with DeluxeHost.

I have now experienced the same issue twice within roughly a one-week period. In both cases, the VPS unexpectedly shut down and remained offline for an extended period. The most recent incident has lasted more than 24 hours, and I was unable to power the VPS back on from the control panel.

My main concern is not that outages happen, every provider can have hardware or infrastructure problems. The concern is that this has happened twice in a short timeframe, resulted in prolonged downtime, and left the VPS unusable from the customer side.

For anyone considering DeluxeHost, I would strongly recommend treating these VPSs as disposable workloads only and ensuring you have off-site backups and a failover plan. Based on my experience so far, I would not feel comfortable relying on them even for a hobby project that I expect to remain online consistently.

Others may have had better experiences, but after two major outages within about a week, I felt it was important to share my experience publicly.

I hope they can finally be processed correctly this time.

  • I renewed my VPS for one year starting last November 15th.
However, it is currently only September, yet the invoice was suddenly charged yesterday.
To be honest, your service is so great, but the price this year is too high for me to renew.
Could you please cancel this mistaken invoice and refund?
    Thank you so much :)

It's a common practice. You are not the only one.

70 days before it is somethiong "normal" for DeluxHost, against their TOS, but... Charge the payment 2-3 months in advance, in case the client change the mind.

For annual offers, the timeframe should be a maximum of 30 to 60 days, naturally, if the customer has opted out or requested otherwise, no amount is deducted.

The right to a refund is also clearly established.

3 services were renewed more than 2 months in advanced. I stayed quiet. But it't not alright to charge 70 days in advance.

Few months ago, when you've charged me in advance for a service, I've remained quiet. I wasn't happy, but I didn't say anything.

Now you've charged me for another 2 services.

Here it's just an example. 2 months and a week. Exactly: 69 days!

    It is just not alright!

    The second example:

This one with 76 days in advance.

Is this right for you? Is it?

    And here is yout TOS.

Bro. you're afraid of losing customers. But this practice won't make them stay with you.

The wording in the section of the Terms of Service you sent me is a bit off, we’ll fix that now. Logically speaking, of course, a month isn't 60 days, that was a mistake on our part.

In any case, no, a 70-day wait certainly isn't normal. You are fully entitled to a refund, no one has ever disputed that.

I have to say, we rarely get complaints about early renewals, so I’ll look into what went wrong right away.

    Thanks for the report.

  • @DeluxHost can you check #WEGY-504361

  • @DeluxHost — refund confirmation still missing after following your staff instruction

    Ticket: #TMU125SUKCMMN
    Service: Z-3 (#20830)

    Timeline:

    • 14 Sep 17:46 — I submitted a detailed storage IO failure report and requested a refund.
    • 14 Sep 19:08 — Alessandro (Staff) replied: "Please proceed to make the cancellation request before we proceed with the refund."
    • 14 Sep 20:06 — I submitted the cancellation request as instructed and asked for: refund initiated? amount? timeframe?
    • 15 Sep 11:08 — Follow-up; asked to escalate to billing/management.
    • 16 Sep 10:57 — Final request before public escalation; asked for confirmation by 16 Sep 11:08 UTC.
    • 19 Sep — Still no reply. Ticket remains open.

Technical issue: VPS storage backend enters near-total IO stall under normal workloads. jbd2 blocked in jbd2_journal_commit_transaction, kworker blocked in rq_qos_wait, /proc/diskstats frozen. Reproduced after clean Debian 12 reinstall. Full report is in the ticket. I can provide redacted screenshots.

Can billing/management please confirm in the ticket:
    1. Has the refund been initiated?
    2. What is the refund amount?
    3. What is the expected timeframe?

If there is a reason the refund is not being processed, please state it. I would prefer to resolve this directly.
