  • Have there been any communications from Servarica? Or should we assume that it is dead?

My VPS is still running but I haven't heard anything about the outages. Hope they're hanging in there

Thanks for sharing that. I didn't get it so I'm guessing my VPS isn't impacted, but it's good to see some communication from them.

It really was the best provider for the price it was originally priced at. Now is the time when an alternative exists with prices similar to the previous ones. Or prices will drop at some point. I hope there is only one error.

  • Yeah, it seems to be much more expensive than it was.

  • don't get me wrong its the best performance and you can use 100% of the cpu but its a bit pricy vs the yearly plans elsewhere on here

    Hi @servarica_hani,

I'm looking for a long-term core VDS and I'm particularly interested in something around:

    16 dedicated CPU cores
    64 GB dedicated RAM
    ~2 TB NVMe

Something similar to the larger VDS/FAT configurations you offered previously would be ideal for me.

I saw your comment about hardware costs and new-order pricing increasing before Black Friday, so I'm not necessarily expecting the old pricing.

Do you expect to have anything close to this configuration available again before or during Black Friday? Even a rough expected price range would be very helpful.

If something like this becomes available earlier, I'd definitely be interested in ordering it.

    Regards..

V2 KVM Slim Slice 16 is what you are looking for but unfortunatly the hardware prices now are crazy
used DDR4 prices now is double the brand new prices 2 years ago !!

Sorry long time didnt update here
In August we moved all of our older servers to a new datacenter. During the process we decided to retire some of the old servers, which is why our uptime is showing badly (I forgot to update it).

We emailed every client before the move, but some said they didn't receive it. In most of these cases it's because our client area lets you turn off "Product Emails – Welcome Emails, Suspensions & Other Lifecycle Notifications," which prevents you from receiving these notices.

In the vast majority of cases the downtime fell within the window mentioned in the email, except for a few where it took a couple of hours to resolve issues specific to that client.

Sorry again for not updating here more often. I'll try to post more regularly, or have someone on the team handle updates since I keep struggling to find the time.

Yes unfortunately , the effect on v2 plans is huge since they are ram heavy, the v3 plans are a bit better
    Ram prices exploded again !

here is my answer on reddit user

I feel really bad. I'm someone who has never increased a plan price after launch in the 16 years we've been in business, and now all of a sudden I'm forced to raise plan prices almost on a monthly basis!

When I saw the new plan prices after calculating them based on the current component costs, I thought I had miscalculated something. I redid the calculation from scratch multiple times just to make sure these were really the numbers we have to sell our plans at because of the hardware increases.

RAM prices have simply exploded again. Right now, 32GB DDR4 ECC 2666V from any vendor with actual stock — not just 10 or 20 pieces — is $250 or more. That's double what it cost just two months ago, when this thread was started. DDR5 is out of reach as well.

The worst part: based on what people in the industry are saying, they expect the situation to get even worse in 2027, which means prices will climb higher still.

It's gotten to the point where I now keep a spreadsheet with the price of each component, and when I buy in bulk I update the sheet, which in turn updates the plan prices. So unfortunately, I do expect prices to go even higher in 2027.

    =====================

The options we as hosts are limited to now are
1- Offer VPS on very old hardware based on DDR3 like what OVH is forced to do in their 2027 linup (not blaming them we are thinking of offering a line on similar hardware or our prices will keep increasing monthly (on new orders) if this crazy trend continue)
2- keep products out of stock till the prices go down and we can stock again (we tried it and we spent more than 1 month waiting and the RAM prices got more expensive !)
3- keep offering the same plans but update the price each time we buy stock

Another issue in pricing these plans is that we know component prices are inflated, but we don't know when the bubble will pop.

In the past, we'd be happy with an X-month ROI on hardware, since we knew we were buying at close to the cheapest point, so we could afford a longer ROI period. The only real limit on that period was how long the server specs would stay relevant enough for the products to still be attractive to customers.

The issue now is that we can't use the same ROI period, because we have another limiting factor: when the bubble pops. Once it does, component prices will drop by 90% or more, and all of a sudden our plans will have to be much, much cheaper — regardless of whether we've hit ROI — or we'll lose our existing clients.

So ROI now has to be reached before the bubble pops. I've set an expected date for that and capped all our plans so they reach ROI by then.

This creates a new problem. Say RAM prices stay flat and we're still offering the same plans in six months — I'd have to raise the price on those plans even though the hardware cost hasn't gone up, simply because we'd be closer to the pop date and still need to hit ROI before it.

This is why I'm currently considering a fourth option: VPS with a two-year contract. In that case I could drop prices significantly, maybe back to where they were before the last increase.

The problem is that we've never done contracts before, so I need to understand how they work and the whole legal process around them, since these would be binding contracts.

Currently we are doing number 3 but I am not sure for how long
as with this trend in year the prices will be double or more what it is currently at

I am really open to suggestions
what are you looking for ?
if you were in same situation what path you would choose

Would contract option work for you ?

  • 1 and 3 aren’t exactly bad options.
It’s just unfortunate that Ivy Bridge Xeons are only just slightly better than the equivalent Opterons. And going Broadwell may lead to expensive DDR4 (try 2133 ECC) even though Broadwell has a fuck ton of cache.
Even more unfortunate that every time you buy in bulk the price has to go up.

My v3 hasn’t had any price increase yet, which is why I’ve kept it, but I feel bad for any poor bastard that wants new services.

  • I just canceled 2 vps that paid 14 usd V3 KVM Slim Slice 12 and by error I pressed the cancel button immediately, when I saw the prices I regretted it. :( I hope the situation improves, I'm really the provider who likes me the most and his prices were extremely good.

Seems like you currently have an annual payment option. Couldn't you just extend that to 2 years with the pricing you have in mind for the fourth option? You could also offer that only to a subset of existing / long-term customers and test the demand or just use it to help grow your exisiting customer base.

    Good Idea
although i dont like the clients to pay for too much in the future
let me think if I can do it in 1 year prepay

Normally, I would be concerned of long prepayments if the host hadn't been around for a while, had a bad reputation, or if I was new to the host.

But, you've been around for many years and seem to have many loyal customers. So, if it seems your existing customers want to add more services, maybe this is a way to satisfy that group. This way, it can be kept off your public website, if that's important to you. Prepayments are usually not preferred, but sometimes it can be ok.

You could also make the offer as a non-subscribing prepayment. Meaning, once the period is over, they can go back to whatever is the current monthly pricing at that time or do another prepayment. If you explain it as a way to overcome the RAM price bubble, then you and your customers can benefit.
