  Update: I’ve narrowed down exactly what I need.

  I’m looking for a cloud VPS for a legitimate GIF hosting and editing application. Permanent files will be stored and delivered through Cloudflare R2, so the VPS will primarily run the web application, PostgreSQL, and a rate-limited media-processing worker.

  Preferred specifications:

  • 4–6 vCPU
  • 8–12 GB RAM
  • 75–100 GB NVMe
  • US East location preferred
  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
  • Root access
  • 1 Gbps connection
  • DDoS protection
  • Monthly billing preferred
  • Approximately $10–15/month

  The application will use FFmpeg, gifsicle, and possibly ImageMagick for user-requested GIF compression, resizing, cropping, trimming, and short video-to-GIF conversions.

  This will not be continuous batch transcoding. Processing will initially be limited to one job at a time, with strict upload limits, timeouts, rate limiting, abuse reporting, moderation, and rapid takedown capability.

  The main requirement is that the provider explicitly permits this workload. Please state:

  • Whether the vCPUs are shared or dedicated
  • The CPU fair-use or sustained-usage limits
  • Whether short 100% CPU bursts are permitted
  • Whether FFmpeg/video-to-GIF processing is allowed
  • Whether moderated anonymous GIF hosting is allowed
  • Backup/snapshot pricing
  • Bandwidth allowance and overage policy
  • The exact monthly price and location

  I’m not looking for shared web hosting, reseller hosting, or a large dedicated server. I need a reliable, appropriately sized cloud VPS with clear resource rules.
