Looking for cheap EU backup VPS (< €1.50/mo) for WireGuard + Reverse Proxy
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a super cheap EU-based VPS to serve purely as a secondary/backup node for a failover setup.
My primary setup is hosted on Netcup, but I need a lightweight fallback routing path for my Home Assistant instance when Netcup experiences network issues.
Requirements:
Location: Europe (Germany, Netherlands, France, France/UK, etc.)
IPv4: Dedicated IPv4 required (IPv6 is a bonus)
Specs: Very low usage — 512 MB to 1 GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 10 GB SSD is more than enough
Use case: Running a lightweight WireGuard tunnel + Nginx Proxy Manager / Caddy for failover traffic only
Budget: ~€10 - €15 / year (around €1 - €1.50/mo max)

Our EPYC 1G is 1.49€/mo, so 17.88€ for the year. That's slightly over your 10 to 15€ target rather than inside it, but it's 1 core, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB NVMe in RAID 1, dedicated IPv4 plus an IPv6 /64, which covers your spec with room to spare.
For a failover node the useful part is that there's no traffic allowance to run out mid-incident, and no counter to watch. WireGuard works out of the box, TUN/TAP enabled. Location is Eygelshoven, NL.
If you want the IP to geolocate somewhere specific we can still do that on this plan, same as we discussed in August.
