Will rising DRAM and NAND prices kill cheap VPS deals this Black Friday?
Memory and storage prices have risen significantly this year, largely due to AI and data-center demand. TrendForce expects server DRAM and NAND prices to remain under pressure throughout 2026.
This made me wonder what Black Friday will look like for the VPS market.
My guess is that we’ll still see plenty of promotions, but fewer genuinely good recurring deals—especially for VPS plans with 4–8 GB RAM or large NVMe storage. Providers may instead:
Keep the same price but reduce RAM or storage
Offer very limited quantities
Discount only the first year
Use older hardware or increase overselling
Focus on low-cost extras such as additional bandwidth
Push two- or three-year prepayments
Small VPS and NAT VPS deals may remain cheap because they consume fewer resources and can spread IPv4 costs across multiple customers. Older servers that have already been depreciated could also produce some excellent clearance deals.
