God their control panel is such a piece of shit. Can't cancel. Raised ticket, attached picture didn't attach. Tried to attach via extra comment. Nothing. Go back to tickets list and open ticket, another 403 error. I guess this is all vibecoded shit that "works on their machine".

so is the quality and support

  • Why are y'all surprised and/or acting smugly superior? This is no more nefarious than setting up an 80% discount for Black Friday. Your $200 server will be back to $40 come BF, then back to $200 again. Don't like server churn? Ansible.

Rarecloud's "regular" prices were always inflated to allow for "normal" promotions.

This is classic rug pull - usually people dislike this. The vote with wallets will show how this will go.

$8/year on Black Friday, $15.30/year on renewal.
    Almost a 91% “upgrade”.

Shame the VPS performance didn’t get the same upgrade. 😂

Was the BF offer advertised as recurring?

I honestly don’t remember if it was advertised as recurring. Either way, it doesn’t matter much now — I’ve already cancelled and moved on from their service.

  • increasing recurring subscriptions more than 20% is asking for a LET roast.

It doesn't say recurring to be fair just "price per year", and describes the deals as e.g. 85% off, although I don't believe they've ever previously sold anything at those claimed prices they're basing that off. That said, that does correlate give or take with the price they're now claiming as list price.

Original offer (that I used at least): https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4696406/#Comment_4696406

However, up until last week in the control panel, the original price was listed as the renewal price about a few months ago they sent out an e-mail saying they were increasing prices and we could "lock in the current price" if we renewed immediately. Which strongly suggests that the offer was supposed to be a recurring price.

That said, the fact that they're now claiming list price is the same as the offer discount was supposed to be based on, but they've never actually sold the servers at that price AFAIK, I think this was always intended to be a bait and switch.

  • i dont wanna alarm you, but that post is khanwebhost, not rarecloud.

Oddly enough i couldnt find a bf 2025 sale for that model, maybe im blind. But given the sale rule of LET,

    1. Pricing on a per-plan basis and clearly state the final recurring price after any discounts.

its probable its was listed recurring.

Well, I cancelled within the 14 days, and managed to get a refund by lots of chasing for it, so I can't tell you what would have happened to my VPS was the service still live. But my order confirmation email from 30th Oct 2025:

Product/Service: KVM Servers - Micro KVM
    Domain: redacted
Auto Install VPN software?: No Auto Install
    Region: London, UK
    Operating System: almalinux-9.2-x86_64
    First Payment Amount: €9.20EUR
    Recurring Amount: €9.20EUR
    Billing Cycle: Annually

Oh yeah, good point. Forget what the offer post says. My invoice says it's EUR 195 with 165 EUR recurring discount. And they've kept the base price the same but reduced the discount, so it was definitely advertised under false pretenses.

But hey ho, I've already cancelled it.
