Looking for a cheap US VPS ($12/year-ish)

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a really cheap little VPS in the US for some personal use. I don't need much at all — 1 vCPU and 512MB–1GB RAM would be perfectly fine.

My budget is around $1–$1.50/month, or ideally no more than $12/year if there's a yearly deal.

The only things I really care about are:

  • US location
  • a public IPv4
  • Linux
  • preferably KVM
  • decent enough network/uptime

I know there are a bunch of $10–12/year VPS deals around here, but there's one slightly annoying requirement on my side: I need to be able to pay for the first order with a Visa card. I don't have PayPal or crypto available, so direct card payment is important.

I'm happy to go with a small/less-known provider if they're legit. I'm mainly looking for something people here have actually used and can vouch for.

If you know of any current deals around this price, I'd really appreciate some recommendations. If you've actually paid with Visa, even better.

Thanks! <3

IMHO, this @DediRock seems like the better deal for a less per year for 2gb memory and 30gb storage, but maybe I'm missing something.

I vibe coded the script to run the checks and my agent told me I was crazy because:

No script can factor it. Not on a VM, not on a supercomputer. The largest RSA number ever factored is RSA-250 (250 digits) — that took ~2,700 core-years on a serious cluster in 2020. RSA-309 is in a completely different league; a realistic estimate is *billions* of core-years. It would outlive the universe several times over.

For context of what's actually doable on a single VM:
    - RSA-100: minutes
    - RSA-129: ~1 day (CADO-NFS, ~$30 of cloud)
    - RSA-160–170: weeks on decent hardware
    - RSA-200+: effectively unreachable for a hobbyist

But the script checks randomly, so let's see how lucky we get in a year 🤣🤣🤣🤣
