$1500 bandwidth bill in 1 day, need help

so, i did something wrong, my object storage generate over $1500 bandwidth bill in just one day, do you guys have any experience on this issue? can i negotiate with the provider to wave maybe part of the bill??

    I mean...if the extra charges are published on the website, you were supposed to read them. You can ofc negotiate, whether the provider will entertain that or not is another question. But well...it is kinda "I purchased a mercedes and it was $50k, can I maybe negotiate a cheaper price?" situation, which is not good.

    Maybe you should give more details on the deployment.
    Choosing the wrong class of object storage, egress pricing, and whatever their policy on various operation will create baffling $$$.
    It's a rookie mistake
    If you can't stomach $1500 bandwidth bill, perhaps you should have set caps

    You can try negotiating with the provider. Depending on who the provider is, they may be able to offer you a discount. Doesn’t the provider also offer budget limits to prevent unexpected charges?

    $1500 ÷ $0.09 = 16.7 TB of egress. :trollface:

    This reminds me of when I got a VPS from a company here on LET from one of their offers..

    Literally one day after I got the VPS, they suspended my account because I had apparently used 110 TB of bandwidth..

    How did that happen? No idea!!

    How did I use more bandwidth than my whole $12/year plan? No idea!!

    Who used the VPS when I hadn't even logged in through SSH yet? No idea!!

    I don't wanna mention the company since you guys already know who they are..
    I'm not trying to expose them or anything..

    I already forgave them anyway, the VPS was so cheap that it wasn't really worth making a big deal out of it..

    Well, try to negotiate, but from provider side he will just sell you to collecting agency.

    Hi,

    too little relevant info.

    But usually, for good customers, a provider will at least stretch the payment schedule. So instead of paying all at once, they allow you to pay it installment over some months.

    Write a very polite message to the provider begging them to let you pay in small installments, don't be proud. After doing that get a payday loan or apply to get flexible credit through digital banks, credit comparison platforms, or retail finance providers. Then pay the provider.

    If it's AWS or GCP, they'll either forgive or heavily discount it, but you haven't mentioned what provider so... /shrug

    I feel you OP. That's like that one time I had to pay a $5 migration fee because I accidentally deployed a VPS in the wrong region. We're both in the same boat.

    don't use so expensive providers for outgoing bandwidth. those large guys charge $0.09/1GB. INSANE.
