got my thundermail invite, did you?

zedzed Veteran

I'm probably gonna pass due to resources/price ratio.
I was super amused to find it in my gmail spam box.

  • 3 custom domains, but all of them point to a single inbox is a big no for me for this price.
If a customer wants it this way, they can make forward rules, not force this upon them.

yea the resource layout is just weird. 1 mailbox, 15 aliases, 3 domains makes no sense to me regardless of the price. i guess i'm not the target audience \o/

That's why I host my own mailboxes and pay for relay. Prices for inboxes have gotten insane.

Currently use Fastmail and doesn't really make sense to switch - especially as it's an early bird and they're locking you in for a year..

Personally, that's a price I'd be willing to pay for reliable email.

I pay €10/mo for 1 inbox right now but I'm looking to move to an EU-based provider though, so I won't be moving to this.

  • $6 per month??? they massage your mails?

  • That's more than double Mailfence.com for less. Hard pass.

    including free ball massage

  • Not enough value add over Gmail (spyware but feature rich) or Proton (costs more but gives more features and value), or other established providers.

And it's Mozilla adjacent, so who knows how long it'll last. I'd strongly suggest that anyone signing up use a custom domain, so they can migrate your emails if/when Mozilla kills this in a couple of years.

That said, I'd be thrilled to look back at this post in a few years and be dead wrong, with Thunderbird mail being a huge success.

  • interesting to see that mozilla doesnt offer thundermail. only thunderbird website offers this service.

Nghia, are you implying that there is more then 3 domains in your portfolio?

  • Double the send storage as received? Wtf?

  • The gif @Neoon posted, that's pretty much what you will get on LET if you act like an idiot.

For that price I'll stick with Fastmail.

way too expensive to seriously compare it to anything else. for that price, i'd rather use fastmail, which has always charged exorbitant prices for its services.

I have Google Workspace, I've been using it since late 2018-ish and it has been working really well but I want to move away from Google and US-based stuff, and also the price increases are becoming more frequent, I started out at €5/mo, then €6.50/mo, €8.63/mo and now €10.13/mo.

I haven't found a suitable EU provider yet, I looked at a few but my main concern is uptime and deliverability.

    $6/month for early bird pricing???
so does that mean its gonna cost even more when it officially releases...
whos gonna pay $10/month for this 😭

  • @s0n1c said: $6/month for early bird pricing???

And that's $6 a month paid annually, so $72 upfront payment.

If we go by typical SaaS pricing, that's probably closer to or over $7 per month paid monthly.

lol with that kind of money, I’ll just go with Proton or one of the well-established ones.
