It looks like NameSilo IT department went to Cancún.

I host my domains DNS with Namesilo, I have no problem with DNS, this outage is only on their main website.

Is this not the worst time of the year to go to Cancun? I go in December.

Next time, try Las Terrenas in the DR.

Been to DR one year, hotter than any Cancun trip (10+). Way hotter women in DR. Food not good compared to Mexico.

    But thanks for the recommendation.

What does it really matter if their panel is down really? Is anyone really running their multi-million dollar shoe reselling operation from the free included DNS...

From experience, yes, but only in very rare cases. However, when it happens, it tends to be critical circumstances. And it's not about DNS usually.

Real examples that come to mind are financial services providers (banks, processors) and government regulators (for licensed businesses such as gambling or financial services) demanding proof of domain ownership no less than X days/months old as part of some KYC/due diligence process.

Let's say you don't have one that is new enough and latest renewal invoice is too old, so you have to ask the CTO or IT department to log in to the registrar and grab a screenshot.

That's a routine thing. But you really don't want your registrar to be down when that happens. And if there are other external things adding urgency to the request, it can be a major headache.

But for practically all other use cases? Yes, these outages are nothing or at most minor inconveniences.
