Quality VPS 120EUR/yr / 10EUR/mo

WilliamWilliam Veteran
edited August 16 in Requests

i still host most of my random stuff on a free VPS of an IP customer i didnt speak with for 10+ years (hello to Istanbul!), so i should migrate or have a plan (tho his company seems stable and invoices always paid)

  • 2 vCPU
  • 4GB+ RAM
  • 50GB+ SSD (no HDD pls, its 2026)
  • IPv4, IPv6, Somewhat clean
  • 1TB BW on a high quality network, i dont want to see only HE+Cogent for transit
  • 250Mbit or better
  • Ubuntu 22-24
  • Reverse DNS for at least the v4 via ticket or better
  • Not US based server, ideally Europe but not EU (eg. NO, CH, Balkans), Asia and Africa also acceptable
  • Not US based company
  • EU/SG/UK Bank, Card, Revolut or Wise payment
  • Established provider, up to your imagination if you fit
  • Reasonable ToS and privacy policy
  • Private IRC allowed (v6 only is fine, only my Rizon bouncer)
  • Paid up to yearly

Besides the US company a lot is negotiable.
I believe all my sh*t runs on ARM if cheaper/better.

Bonus, id pay a good setup fee for most of these:

  • 19x.* 187.* 5.* 88.* IP block
  • Any IP with 88 in it
  • Any short IP (eg. 192.76.4.5)
  • v6 reverse DNS or delegation
  • Second v4 in budget, ideally from the most remote block you have
  • IP data SWIP

I prefer no DE, FR, NL, PL, UK but it is no removal criteria.

Godspeed. Those are very specific requirements.

  • WilliamWilliam Veteran

yea i knew that would come...

The number 88 is widely considered an extremely lucky and auspicious number in Chinese culture, primarily because the single digit 8 sounds like the word for wealth, prosperity, and making a fortune. Doubling the number to 88 magnifies this positive energy to represent double fortune and doubled financial success.

Are they? I feel like most established providers would fit thats why i capped the locations, i can up the budget if needed

    i found eg.
    http://stw.no/en/ssd-vps/
I know the name from the past, anyone experience?

Melbicom seems to also fit, with a bit less HDD at 100EUR/yr, anyone knows how Riga is?

  • What about Gigahost?

Impressive GOLD line, yes that should fit nearly all points as start, will check network

I don't think any of those would be allowed to take money from you since you're a sanctioned entity.

What about a provider in a location with a decent network but no relation to US/EU politics, e.g. Vietnam?

Since you mentioned Istanbul, a turkish provider might be good for you?

I thought it was the other way around. Wasn't it for making terrorist threats in the EU?

i am not EU sanctioned, only US. Also irrelevant as it runs under my wifes Croatian company anyway, like everything else. Im not paying 25% VAT to our useless gov and i do not have a registered address/residence.

@forest said: What about a provider in a location with a decent network but no relation to US/EU politics, e.g. Vietnam?

Yes, GreenQloud for example is an option but only via SG.GS, and the network seems sometimes meh. I like that they are in Vietnam.
If i take asia, especially in a dictatorship, id prefer to deal with the nationalised provider or whoever does their hosting (eg. ps.kz in KZ) and not a small shop.

@concept said: Since you mentioned Istanbul, a turkish provider might be good for you?

I do not think i want to support Turkey with tax money at this time, though this is notably unfair because id take Uzbekistan or Kyrgyztan which both are worse dictatorships. I dont like Turkey. It is mutual feeling.

I now ordered a box from Gigahost for testing, at 5EUR/mo might as well just keep it

Hey, we might have something that fits most of this.

Our Linux VPS range is available on Ryzen 9 7950X3D (UK) an all other locations based on 9950X CPUS
Our EPYC VPS runs on EPYC 9654 CPUs with NVMe storage, IPv4 + IPv6, 40Gbit Uplink connectivity and starting on the lowest plan with 3traffic included. Reverse

DNS is available as well via Ticket.

Yearly payments are possible during checkout - with discounts.
Our network has multiple upstreams rather than just HE/Cogent.

The EPYC and Ryzen VPS options are here:
    Linux VPS: https://evolushost.com/vps/linux
    EPYC VPS: https://evolushost.com/vps/epyc

I think that's a good choice. One small 'but' though: They, at least for a while, were owned by a us-american group (and might do it again).
Maybe make clear what your aversion is, any kind, proforma only (e.g. for tax reasons) OK, us-american owner of any kind and even in part (e.g. owning x % of provider)? etc.

GreenCloud / @NDTN also are a fine choice IMO and AFAIK definitely headquartered in and run from Vietnam, but registered (only or also?) in some us-american state for some reason.

Btw NO has nazu (fka 'nato') troups, and CH seems to have become a bitch of both us-american and eu interests ...

It seems prettty much unbeatable, maybe Hetzner VPS can or OVH can do it but they are less interesting.

I am not much worried if private equity from US holds a stake, at larger companies this seems unavoidable anyway (unless its the state telco)

@oloke said: If you meant GreenCloud, they're a company registered in Lewes, USA (365 Group LLC).

Yea they bill over a US shell, probably VN accounting and invoicing is not up to digital age and international use

@amarc said: Is this because Benjamin also do not like it or something else ?

I did not have good experience growing up with Turks (they are not uncommon in Austria, albeit less than in Germany), do not like Erdogan or most of his policies and think a lot of Turks are just as backwards and barbaric as the arabs below. I give it that it is secular and democratic, but both really only on paper. Even the shared love for cat cant fix that.

    Checkout TY-4G at:
    https://my.ddps.jp/index.php?rp=/store/tokyo-vps
    9900X AMD Ryzen 9

    Company registered in JP, Asia.
rDNS for IPv4 is available in the Panel itself.
For rDNS with IPv6, just ask them to set NS for IPv6 netblock, once propogated do the rDNS yourself.

OK, that probably opens a few more options, but if I got that right you already have a GigaHost VPS and are happy with it.

@jsg said: Re "Turks": keep in mind that state/regime almost always != the people!

In this case i found both to be rather annoying, i lived too long in Vienna in a district with like 25% ExYugoslavs and 20% Turks at the time (10% other, rest Austrians, not inn majority), i saw the integration fail first hand for many... but sure, not everyone. People in Turkey, especially "the West" and cities, might be better but im not too invested in finding out considering their regime will arrest me on entry for random twitter postings. Turkey is something i just leave alone.

    @dosai said: HighRiskClient

Actually extremely low risk, anything with risk id nowadays just get anonymous VPS with crypto, back in time hiding behind offshore companies was the thing. I mainly use the company as front to save the VAT and dont have a home address published if the provider gets hacked. More of a PO box with tax benefits in this case.

@MivoCloud said: Location - Moldova, Romania.

hm, yes, AlexHost also offers in similar range in Chisinau, i found both networks lack to Croatia at the time (my ISP barely peers).

    Hi,

Melbicom has some Asian and an African location outside of US and EU, for 11.4 €/month:
    CPU 2 core
    RAM 4GB
    Storage 40GB
Bandwidth up to 1 Gbps. If the monthly quota 5TB is exceeded, the throughput is reduced to 100 Mbps.
    Data transfer Unmetered

However, the IP is randomly allocated so it's not a guarantee you would get one of those from your list.

    Should you be interested: https://www.melbicom.net/virtualserver/?utm_id=2025_BSTForum100
