Warning / Experience with CloudCone: Accidental "Destroy" within 3 minutes of purchase forfeits enti
Hi everyone,
(English is not my native language, so please excuse any grammatical errors. I am sharing my recent experience strictly as a consumer alert regarding CloudCone's handling of promotional plans.)
Earlier today, I purchased an annual 1C/1G Budget VPS promotional plan for $18.28 (Invoice #1293145).
Within less than 3 minutes after the server was deployed, I discovered that the assigned IP address was unreachable/blocked in my region. Since I was unfamiliar with CloudCone's control panel and English terminology, I mistakenly clicked the "Destroy" button, believing it would simply reset, wipe, or let me re-provision the instance with a fresh network configuration.
Immediately after:
1. The VPS vanished completely from my dashboard.
2. The $18.28 was NOT refunded to my account credit (my balance remained at $0.72).
I opened a support ticket explaining the situation and clearly stated:
- I DO NOT require any data recovery (the machine was brand new and empty anyway).
- I am NOT demanding a cash refund or credit withdraw.
- All I politely requested was a simple courtesy re-provisioning of a blank replacement 1C/1G VPS for the ~364 days of prepaid service I already paid for.
However, support (Arun TR) flatly refused, stating that because the destruction confirmation page mentions the plan is "non-refundable," customer-initiated destruction permanently terminates the entire 1-year contract with zero recourse. They will neither manually re-create an empty instance under the paid invoice nor credit the account.
In summary, CloudCone effectively kept an entire year of prepaid funds for less than 3 minutes of service due to an honest user mistake, refusing to fulfill the contracted computing resources.
If you are a non-native English speaker or new to their platform, please be extremely careful. An accidental click on "Destroy" will result in total loss of your prepaid period.

Not only did you mess up, but you did zero research before hand. These guys have no idea what they are doing. You kinda deserve what you got.
That said, given their already horrible reputation, I don't know why they wouldn't choose to help you out here and get a bit of good will. Seems like an easy win. I guess that's just more evidence of what a horrible business they are.
I did the same for email hosting. There was termed delete organization. I was changing the company name and when I click delete, it deleted the whole mail package.
Never dealt with them afterwards. If you require peace of mind, take this $18 loss as learning lesson and move away from it.
That's fucked up. I'm a native english speaker and I would expect "destroy" to mean the vps, not the plan. These knuckleheads are sounding more and more like a straight-up scam.
Nah, I'd see it as a great opportunity to fire a future support drain.
I'm doubting OP until someone posts pics. It sounds like support is saying the warning message was pretty unambiguous.
Do any panels use terminology besides "reinstall" where you select the OS to reinstall. Just wondering why he suddenly deviated from SOP.
Why would a customer want to "destroy" his plan? If someone wants to cancel his plan or subscription, is the word "cancel" not enough? IMO, the term "destroy" is ambiguous, but it really sounds like it destroyed your day.
I don't understand why they have that destroy button 😭
From the provider's perspective, whether it was an honest mistake or intentional, this just looks like an attempt to get a free IP swap.
A fair compromise would be re-provisioning with the exact same IP, but it's hard to justify spending manual support costs on an $18/y plan. Since there's no way to verify the user's true intent, a flat rejection is realistically the only outcome.
Your mistake in not translating correctly cost you 18 USD. If you want to defend yourself better, post photos so we can determine whether the provider intentionally placed the “Delete” button where the “Reinstall” button should be.
$18 x 10 Badluck user = $180 Free ez mani doing nothing B-)
Why would you prepay for 1 year and with such a provider. Their reputation is horrible and the control panel is full of traps which can delete your account or instance when clicked once.
To clarify a bit on the VM delete / destroy process, we have a detailed guide on https://help.cloudcone.com/en-us/article/destroy-your-virtual-private-server-iebbbm/
Which the user should go through a set of instructions before destroying a VM. We do have a warning displayed on the user based on refund eligibility in both English and Chinese languages (based on user location).
Am I being stupid or does this still not say that you would lose the plan, clearing data and stopping billing doesn't necessarily mean your cancelling the VPS especially considering its a 1 year prepaid plan. It should probably be clearly communicated that the remaining prepaid service will be cancelled or lost not just that its a non refundable plan as that doesn't really make it clear.
TLDR Make it clear on the panel not just the guide
Average user thinks this is reinstall. Not cancel plan. Deceptive practices
Fixed it!

yes thanks for making it clear that this isn't some accidental misunderstanding of terms, that you quite explicitly steal people's money if they destroy a vps.
this is a fucking scam.
The text in box (with bell icon, not a warning?) about being non re-fundable (funny spelling?) makes it kinda obvious?
But yeah, probably need a "4." on the list also
I would think its reinstall. Why they even have this button?! And its a Scam!
this is straight up malicious. cloudgone knew what they're doing. Destroy isn't a thing if the plan is not in hourly billing.
@ssww bad reading comprehension meets not-fool-proofed host @Cloudcone .
Cloudcone finances so bad they have to steal 18$
It's misleading but I won't assume it's malicious. Could just be a language/dialect issue
@Cloudcone imo something like this is more clear:

forfeit instead of cancel would probably be more accurate.
"Destroy" is so stupid, its more fiting for a feature where you can rebuild the VPS. This is just "cancellation" - immediate cancellation before end of contract even.
But this can just be poor wording, not refunding the person or re-creating their VPS (which is automated in 2026) is just malicious
wtaf...
@Cloudcone Next for idea to make people feel more stupid for not reading : Make "Quick Topup" Button , then it will randomly topup any customer on your customer data.
when asked just say : "But it was quick, yes? "
like a genie wish, your wish granted with stupid catch
