    1) I have 1 domain and 1 inbox/user ([email protected]). I want to use it as a catchall inbox/user. After researching online about smartmail, it appears I cannot make a user/inbox as a catchall inbox/user. Instead, I need to create a catchall alias ([email protected]) and add my user email as a forwarding address. Is this correct?

    2) If I sign up for multiple services using my domain (e.g., [email protected], [email protected]) and forward these emails to my inbox [email protected], can I compose and reply from addresses like [email protected]? Note that these are not users or aliases, but rather emails caught and forwarded by the catchall alias, though they belong to the same domain (demo.com).

I want to sign up for hundreds of online services (like Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, etc.), each using different email aliases on my domain. However, I don't want to manually add users or aliases in the settings every time.

    My goal is to:
    1. Have just one main inbox/user
    2. Be able to reply and compose emails using any alias (example: [email protected]) from this single inbox
    3. Do this without having to pre-configure each alias in the settings

Is it possible to send emails from any email address on my domain (*@demo.com) even when that specific alias hasn't been added to the settings?

@Francisco @NameCrane Does anybody know?. i mxroute but would like to switch if it works like this.

Hi @Francisco , quick question about CraneMail catch-all.

If I receive an email sent to an address that doesn’t exist as an alias, for example [email protected], and it gets delivered to my main inbox via catch-all, can I reply directly from [email protected] without creating that address as an alias first?

Basically, I’m looking for a SimpleLogin-style workflow where any catch-all address can also be used automatically as the From address when replying.

@Francisco ..can you provide an ip4 to the Vegas location? I'm mainly interested in the 10TB of storage since my customary email handling is to harvest & remove from POP3s.

Is there possibility to relay occasional emails? ..home router/firewall, possibly reminders from some services on my server(s). Eventually I probably would migrate that to accounts residing @ cranemail vegas but until then, being able to relay could be helpful.

I was thinking the demo might have answered some of that, but...

CraneMail demo seems to be on break.

([email protected] & pw) --> "That domain was not found. Double check your email address."

    You can ping us1.workspace.org :)

Let me go sort the demo. Ever since I had put a bigger license on it, it has been misbehaving. I'm going to just reinstall it, so go ahead and check back in a couple hours.

For the relay, just, make a user and plop it in as SMTP details...?

If you setup amazon@ as an identity in your mail client it'd work just fine.

Perhaps. I've yet to review the few cases I have where email originating anywhere but my workstaion MUA may be useful.

    https://speedtest.lv.buyvm.net :)

You can always put a test file on the cloud part of the demo and see how that goes. Just snag like... say... the test file from the buyvm speedtest, upload, and then download. you'll get a decent idea on round trip to/from smartermail.

Not sure I understand what it means by "identity." Assuming it means "add as new contact," I still couldn't find in the dropdown an option for amazon@ unless I add it in aliases (I tested this in SmarterMail webmail and I also enabled "use received address from message on reply").

  • Hi @Francisco , Can you help to check the Ticket #CRANE-26014? Recently, My Blesta license keep getting terminated because of I am using Cloudflare to protect the website. :'( The support tell me it has been fixed, but I got terminated again.

    Does the iperf3 @ above listen on port(s) != 5201?

I'll give that a spin a little later. Thanks!

What does "Primary Domains" mean? Sorry, I've never used email hosting before, I only have experience using email that comes bundled with web hosting.

Think of it like an account on cpanel or directadmin.

Each domain you want to create emails under is a “primary domain”. You might have alias domains but those don’t count against it.

@Francisco gave the demo a whirl just now a few times. Error changed it's tune.
([email protected] & pw) --> "Username or password is incorrect."

    Any ideas?

Its possible someone logged in and changed it? :) It auto regenerates every couple hours. There's no real way for me to block a user from changing their password (I mean, maybe I could intercept the API calls I guess).

If you want, PM me a test domain and I'll add it to one of our US boxes. you can then do a proper test drive at your leasure.

    @Francisco ..I hadn't thought of that! >:)

I guess cranemail/email is more involved to public demo with guardrails than what I've used before.

Thanks for the offer on a box to test. I'll PM a domain. If okay, an admin@ email to that domain as a heads-up would be welcome.

  • Hi @Francisco, my ticket CRANE-24190 has been open for 2 months now, and it keeps being auto-closed due to no one is touching it. There was one feeble (but misguided) attempt, but aside from that - nothing. Would you please take care of it, as I hope you agree that's not acceptable?

    Thank you,

  • FranciscoFrancisco Top Host, Host Rep, Veteran

Huge upgrade just rolled out for ActiveSync :) Some users quote it at a '100x' improvement in responsiveness, and no more random disconnect/password prompts. Message previews are also 'correct' now as they follow the spec faithfully, unlike what Z-Push was doing.

Z-Push has been fully replaced with an inhouse implementation. Come try it out, we'd love your feedback!

What's your issue? If more people experience it as well, it can likely be bumped up in priority.

  • Bought a lifetime plan a few weeks back and finally got a chance to move some domains over to it. The filtering is absolutely impressive! Great work!

Yeah the anti spam is crazy good, some stuff does get through like once or twice a month, but I have to say those emails actually look pretty legit. I do mark those as spam though so hopefully those get blocked in the future.

If you can PM me the queue ID's i'll check them out ;)

Biggest issue is usually that people feel something is spam (newsletters, etc) and are like 'why isn't this blocked??'. Well, you might feel its spam, but its objectively not if its from a legitimate group.

We do have content filters built in for those that need blanket catches like that.

Anyway, let me know, we're always looking to improve!

    Thanks!

With the changes I made in the past few weeks these are all getting clipped. There's only 1 that isn't and i'll have to think on it a bit.

On the topic of EAS, feedback on discord has been extremely positive. No random disconnects. No random full resyncs. Moving around even very large inboxes is responsive. The syncs that did happen (users enabling it again after moving back to IMAP) went quickly and didn't fall over when moving 5000+ items.

    Good stuff!
