Even for Taiwan with a China-optimized network, that's very little bandwidth.

Yeah, especially for the people that won't post order numbers to LET.

Yeah, especially for the people that won't post order numbers to LET.

Bandwidth in Taiwan is exceptionally expensive. This promo is a special offer and a little bonus exclusively for the LET community to bump up those specs. Even at base configurations, these SoftShellWeb plans are some of the cheapest, if not the absolute cheapest, currently on the market for the Taiwan region.

I don't want to dismiss your deal and i understand the point behind the order number game but it still sucks when it means that you'll only get half of what's on offer. I tend to give people a lot of free bumps (you already got 2 for nothing but me being salty) but if i'll order it's kinda like i'll pay twice as much as 90% of all other people :(

That is a completely fair point, and we really appreciate the candid feedback!

The invoice matching is just a lighthearted way for us to interact with the forum and say thank you to the folks keeping the thread moving—much like you're doing right now with the bumps. We always want our community members to feel valued rather than left out, so we'll definitely keep your perspective in mind for how we structure future promos.

Thanks for hanging out in our thread and keeping the conversation active! 🤝

From the looking glass it doesnt seem like the server is either optimized for Hinet or China Telecom.

@BreakaWD Interesting — I ran a full NetQuality audit from my LET-Taiwan-Special-1 VPS (Taipei, AS9678 HostingInside) on 2026-10-08 ~07:54 (UTC+8), using the open-source NetQuality suite (xykt/NetQuality, pinned commit d5b9948) with NextTrace v1.7.3 for route analysis.

As a customer note: I picked up this plan earlier this week and, honestly, it's the best-value Taiwan VPS I've come across so far. $24.95/yr for a Taipei KVM, instant setup, and thank you @SoftShellWeb for applying the double bandwidth quickly.

    Back-to-China latency (TCP large-packet, 10 samples per provincial endpoint/carrier):

    • Guangdong Mobile: 35 ms (10/10) — return path AS9678 → NTT (Hong Kong) → AS9808 (CMI) → AS56040 (Guangdong Mobile). A quick test the day before gave 40 ms, so it's consistently good.
    • Guangdong Telecom: 150 ms (8/10) — via NTT Tokyo into AS4134 (regular backbone, ~147 ms on the traceroute). No CN2 GIA seen. This matches your ~155 ms China Telecom ping almost exactly.
    • Guangdong Unicom: 226 ms (10/10) — the UDP trace suggests NTT → Hong Kong → Lumen AS3356 (Los Angeles) → AS4837, possibly a detour via the US.

Across 31 mainland provincial test endpoints, the median latency was 148 ms (Telecom), 147 ms (Unicom) and 198 ms (Mobile) — so Guangdong Mobile is the standout, not the average.

    Full 31-endpoint results, compact format — CT/CU/CM = Telecom/Unicom/Mobile, ms, (valid samples/10):

    BJ 139(8)/90(10)/98(10) · TJ 142(7)/91(10)/192(10) · HE 140(10)/152(10)/219(10) · SX 149(2)/305(1)/456(1)
    NM 146(9)/140(10)/201(10) · LN 150(8)/147(8)/97(10) · JL 158(9)/105(10)/210(10) · HL 156(8)/162(10)/217(10)

    FJ 124(8)/158(9)/191(10) · JX 143(8)/145(10)/195(10) · SD 149(6)/152(10)/217(9) · HA 141(8)/91(10)/185(10)
    HB 132(8)/142(10)/200(10) · HN 139(9)/145(8)/56(10) · GD 150(8)/226(10)/35(10) · GX 155(7)/153(9)/49(10)
    HI 137(9)/122(10)/176(10) · CQ 158(9)/158(10)/246(10) · SC 158(9)/107(10)/79(10) · GZ 148(9)/163(9)/203(10)
    YN 176(10)/171(9)/198(10) · XZ 183(8)/181(10)/265(10) · SN 195(10)/148(10)/225(10) · GS 151(9)/149(10)/221(10)
    QH 167(8)/153(10)/198(10) · NX 156(8)/100(10)/219(10) · XJ 146(9)/182(10)/220(10)

    A few honest caveats:

    • I found no trace of AS58807 (CMIN2) in any of the 18 route traces, so I can't confirm any premium-line claim from this data — the good Guangdong Mobile result comes via plain NTT Hong Kong into CMI, not a special line.
    • All domestic speedtest nodes failed during this run (the Guangzhou Mobile node used by the script was not selectable via the official Ookla directory), so this is latency/path data only — no domestic upload/download numbers.
    • Short 10-sample tests, morning only. No evening peak-hour data yet.
    • One small note on the earlier ping: hinet.com currently resolves to 64.190.63.222, which appears to be hosted in the US (looks like a parked domain), so that 287 ms is probably measuring a US site rather than HiNet's own network.
    • International iperf3 was mixed — Singapore stood out at 438/193 Mbps send/receive relative to the VPS, but a few long-haul inbound tests were weak. Not what I bought this box for, though.

This does line up with what SoftShellWeb have said about optimization: the Guangdong Mobile return path clearly is optimized, and it's excellent. Telecom and Unicom just don't get the same treatment — yet. ;)

Either way: for the price, in Taiwan, I'm a happy customer. I can post more per-hop trace details if anyone wants them.
