Leaseweb price increase (regular occurrence)
It is this time of year when LW increase prices. Each year they do that on larger or smaller scale. This time it is ULTRA massive (~20% overall increase).

If you have contract - it is time to extend it to max 3 years term.

Last month I went from Hetzner to leaseweb and locked a 2 years contract. I'm quite happy

Another day, another VM price increase from the big players. We’re not giving up.
This month I got an VPS 1 in Frankfurt, 1 EUR increasing is not that much tbh.
From 4 to 5 eur is 25% increase, 6 times the inflation
I knew it would happen eventually, but I wasn't sure when. To be honest, I anticipated a price increase in November, December, or January of 2027.
Most of our customers are hosted in the Singapore location and are on long-term contracts, so any pricing changes will not affect their current contract. The revised pricing will only apply at the time of renewal, based on Leaseweb's pricing at that time. We clearly communicate this during the signup process, ensuring customers are aware that renewal pricing is subject to the prevailing Leaseweb rates.

It is ridiculous increase. US DC got 41% bump. And I believe this won't be the last increase this year...
This is "hardware pricing" increase now.. have in mind there is regular 4% increase every year also.
"Existing contracts auto-renew at the current price until cancelled or modified, meaning your current workloads stay untouched in terms of pricing unless you choose to make a change."
This was going to happen, we have been reminded by our AM for this multiple times.
They increased for Singapore, Japan already few months ago, now they are doing for other locations.
BTW we cant even place order in advance to add some stock because USA is out of stock.
And those are the ones which has big price increase.
Isn’t each contract renewal is deemed cancellation and re-subscription? And during that re-sub they can apply new terms.
Apparently, long-standing customers are being charged higher rates to subsidize the lower prices offered to new customers.
Do they replace the RAM for long-standing customers every year? Do they install new hard drives for them? If not, why do they justify increasing prices for long-standing customers by claiming that hardware costs have gone up?
It would be more credible if they cited the cost of the data center space where the servers are housed, but even that cost does not increase enough to justify such aggressive price hikes.
This is not a technical issue; it is an administrative one, and they are handling it poorly. There appears to be serious mismanagement of resources. I would leave that provider.
RAM isn't replaced every 3Y, NVME does. It's combination of capex pressure from adding capacity and replacement.
Well, LW is a massive corporation. There is investors which demand yearly increase in revenue. Imagine your-self as one of LWs investors: you need steady stream of ever increasing ROI. Customers here is absolutely irrelevant as LWs quality is good and customer base is massive (and it is B2B!).
The same fate struck Prizener, OVHighPrice. The reason for high price 9 out of 10 is just investor pressure. Everything else is opium for the masses.

For existing Leaseweb customers: AMS or FRA datacenter? Which one is the best?
AMS. The home of LW. They are solid there.
but it says existing contracts is not affected as long you don't cancel or change plan. So buy more if you want the current pricing before the price increase
When current contract expires, new prices will kick in. The same with ovh.
I opened an ticket, let's see how it goes.
