Thanks for the feedback. But the advertised resources, dedicated IPv4, bandwidth and buyer upgrade remain the same.

We understand the pricing may not suit everyone, though we have tried to keep the yearly plans sustainable while including a dedicated IPv4 and Malaysia-based hosting. We appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Do you have SMT (Hyper-Threading) enabled or disabled on your Intel line?

Also, are you putting multiple IPv6 addresses on the same /64? Because my Globalping probe keeps kicking me out with the message that I can only have one probe per /64.

    Hi Forest,

On the first /64 VMs they were all multiple /64. New VM/VPS provisions now assigns /64 directly.

Intel line has the SMT enabled~

Any chance I could get put on a separate /64? I'm currently on 2a0d:9842:0:100::1188.

Ah, just wondering because lscpu shows that there's an extant microarchitectural vulnerability that's exploitable if enabled.

Thanks for flagging it. We checked the physical host, and the major CPU vulnerabilities are mitigated or not affected. The remaining warning is being addressed with the latest Proxmox kernel and firmware updates. As there is no PCI passthrough exposed to customer VMs (mostly when SMT is enabled this will affect it)

For the seperate /64 I'll get back to you on that :P thanks Forest

The server has IPv6 but not sure during this boot it was disabled. Rebooted and IPv6 is working again.

Does the plan provide an independent security group firewall? Also, the pre-installed operating system options do not include the Windows Server series; is it supported?

Yes. Each VPS includes an independent, portal-managed firewall that functions similarly to a cloud security group. Firewall policies and rules are applied separately for each server and operate independently from the firewall configured inside the operating system.

However we do not have windows server series offering for time being.

I think the pricing is very good.

SMT vulnerabilities aside, which are both numerous and usually hard to exploit, I would be surprised if SMT offered any performance benefit in a VPS hosting context. I haven't formally tested this, but it's my first guess. Maybe someone has done some testing on it already?

Now I think SMT could be helpful in a single VPS context, if that VPS has two threads vs one. But with single core VPSs, I imagine it might negatively impact performance vs just sharing native cores.

Now I think SMT could be helpful in a single VPS context, if that VPS has two threads vs one. But with single core VPSs, I imagine it might negatively impact performance vs just sharing native cores.

I think the key distinction is individual vCPU performance versus total host throughput.

For example, if a host has 40 physical cores and 80 threads with SMT enabled, and it is running 100 VPSs, SMT allows more guest vCPUs to make progress at the same time and usually improves aggregate throughput. It does not make the server equivalent to 80 physical cores, but it can reduce scheduler queueing and make better use of execution resources that would otherwise be idle.

With SMT disabled, each scheduled vCPU gets a full physical core without competing with a sibling thread, so performance may be more predictable while that vCPU is running. However, the host would expose only 40 schedulable CPUs, meaning substantially more waiting and contention if many of the 100 (for example) VPSs become busy simultaneously (60 queue).

So for shared VPS hosting, I would generally expect SMT enabled to be better overall, especially because most VPS workloads are bursty rather than continuously CPU-bound. The trade-off is that a single VPS may see lower or less consistent performance when another busy VPS is running on the sibling thread.

So in terms of this, it really all depends on the workload per node cluster and also to normalize or spread between noisy nodes not putting all in one etc. Since we are currently running on a 6 node cluster. As we usually spread the VPS across.

All our servers are in cluster nodes so during updates upgrades live migration allow us to do it without any downtime on the node itself.

    Thanks for your input!
