Hey!
I've been following this community for a while, seems like it's my time to ask for some guidance. Here's the full context of my use case:
Looking for:
- CPU: 1 vCore
- RAM: 512 MB (256 MB accepted if price is right)
- Disk: 5-10 GB SSD/NVMe
- Bandwidth: 500 GB/month minimum, unmetered preferred
- Network: IPv4 NAT with 1 UDP port forward for WireGuard (default 51820/udp, or I can change). IPv6 is a bonus but not required
- Location: Western Europe with low latency to Portugal. Spain, France, or Germany ideal. Netherlands or UK acceptable if routing is good.
- European company offer would be great as well
Use case
This VPS will be a pure VPN appliance. I’m in Portugal most of the year and only need to tunnel back to my home when traveling. The rest of the time it will sit idle, so I care about stability and low annual cost, not raw performance.
Budget
Around 10€/year. Will stretch slightly for a perfect location (Spain/France/Germany).

@djn have you used TierHive in the past? I was trying to see which is the CPU or Bandwidth allocation but didn't find any information at all.

And that's kinda it. There was one more Poland hoster of NAT VPS, but I forgot the name (it was hella expensive for nat).
All of those works just fine from my experience. First three have domain forwarding if it matters.
For gullo don't be confused about grayed out options, you can actually select them if there's no label "out of stock", and you can add more bandwidth (+125Gb per month for $1/year).
Also I'm sad NAT VPS is that rare, especially with domain forwarding.

why not use tailscale or cloudflare mesh?

TierHive has a very unique system of traffic management not similar to any other hosts.
We give traffic priorities and have a very custom quality of service monitor that will upgrade/downgrade your priority within your priority tier in real time during times on contention on traffic.
Every location has different port speeds and up-links, we strive to keep costs as low as possible so we don't give any guarantees of any specific speed or amount of traffic or minimums instead we balance the load between all users.
If you are using a disproportionate amount compared to everyone else then you will be hit hardest when someone else requires more traffic in burst.
TierHive is not enterprise grade, it is aimed at pre-production building, hobby scale and personal self hosting, not commercial or enterprise, the reality is if you need or require high traffic or guaranteed speeds this is literally the opposite of what you should be using, it was not intended or designed for this.
While TierHive is in Public Alpha speeds and allowances are constantly changing, we need the flexibility to do this which is why no specific amounts or speeds are advertised at this time.
IPv6 is via tunnelbroker, so it's not ideal.
There is some steal I mean for that price it's a miracle it even works

@xms the reason I'm looking for a NAT VPS is because I don't want either Tailscale nor cloudfare mesh to hold the private keys of my connection. Cloudflare controls the entire coordination layer as well as which policies they deem applicable on them.
Running a NAT VPS allows me to control the keys (but yes they can see my traffic as it exits, but not as serious as Tailscale or Cloudfare mesh).
@djn I suppose that's a log from one service that you're running from TierHive? Looks great!
