Looking for DDR4 Dedicated Server, 500GB+ Storage, Budget $20/mo
Hi all,
Looking for a dedicated server with the following specs:
- RAM type: DDR4 (any amount, more is better)
- Storage: 500GB+ (SSD preferred, HDD acceptable)
- Budget: $20/month max (open to yearly billing if it works out cheaper)
- Location: Any
- Bandwidth: A few TB/month is fine
- Use case: General purpose hosting
- Type: Open to either a new purchase or a transfer of an existing server — whichever gets me the best deal on specs/price
Open to older CPUs as long as DDR4 RAM and the storage requirement are met. Please drop your offers below with specs + price. Thanks!

You are looking for a VPS right? There isn't hat much actual dedis in the <=$20/m region.
NOCIX with DDR3 is your only option probably.
https://www.nocix.net/dedicated/
$20 barely covers power costs in the US, even worse for most other countries.
please tell me you went into a coma in 2018 and just woke up.
electricity alone is like 80 usd on what you wrote on a dedicated server like that, not to mention the cost of hw.
Check oneprovider or https://www.kimsufi.com/en/
That is your best options at that price.
If VDS works,
CPU - 6 cores Dedicated
RAM - 24 GB
NVMe - 750 GB Disk
Bandwidth - 24TB BW @ 10gbps
1 IPv4 Included
Server Location Montreal, Canada
Support 24*7
$17/m
https://clients.servarica.com/store/bf-2025-kvm-slim-slice
This is DDR4 too.
You would end better with buying minipc like m710q or smth and host it in home. Alternatively, from time to time there are cheap dedis from pulsedmedia, but don't expect anything high
Hello.
Maybe this is not what you're looking for or maybe it is. But we have a dedicated server 26€, is a little out of your budget, but you can get 1TB HDD with that price.
You require DDR4, at that price is hard to match. We only can offer DDR3 due to pricing of the dedicated server, if you are interested and** if you want to open an exception for you case**.
You can check here our Dedicated Servers:

Otherwise OVH and other options that are pretty common.

Yeah I get why it sounds like I'm asking for a VPS price on a dedi. I'm normally a VPS/VDS guy so this budget is just what I'm used to paying. I found some Kimsufi and OVH listings that looked close to $20 so I figured I'd post here and see if there were other options I was missing. Good to know actual dedis in this range are rare though.
That makes sense, I didn't realize power costs alone would eat most of the budget. I'm coming from the VPS/VDS world so I honestly wasn't thinking about the hardware and electricity side of things, just comparing it to what I usually pay. Will check out NOCIX, thanks for the pointer.
fair, definitely not asleep since 2018, just new to actually pricing out real dedicated hardware.
that made me think $20 might be doable. Appreciate you sharing the link.
Thanks for the mention and the offer. I'll probably end up buying one of yours in the near future actually, since I wanted to test some stuff (programming related) on legacy hardware anyway, so a DDR3 box could actually work well for that specific case. I'll bookmark your dedicated servers page and reach out when I'm ready to pull the trigger. Appreciate the 10% discount code too.
Appreciate the mini PC idea, but self hosting is honestly really hard to pull off here in Sri Lanka for a few reasons:
Unfair pricing on almost everything, hardware, electricity, and local hosting all cost way more than they should compared to what you get
Unstable network connections, even fiber connections here keep going up and down randomly, and sometimes I'm stuck on speeds that feel like 3G
Local VPS pricing is brutal too, as an example, I checked a Sri Lankan hosting provider and a basic 1vCPU / 4GB RAM / 100GB storage VPS quote came out to $184.21/month, which is insane for those specs
which is insane for those specs, you can check yourself here: https://www.srilankahosting.lk/sri-lanka-data-center
I also attached another screenshot of one of Sri Lanka's leading fiber providers and their VPS packages, and on top of the high pricing, they're all still running on ancient hardware.
(~336.6 LKR = $1 USD as of today)
So realistically, it's just easier and cheaper to pay an international provider than to try setting up and maintaining anything locally in Sri Lanka. That's basically why I'm hunting for deals like this thread instead of going the self hosted route.
Hey,
We still have the following dedicated server in stock:
Intel Core i5-9500T, 32GB RAM, 256GB NVMe, €32,50/mo
With a yearly commitment, we can upgrade the storage to 500GB and give a 5% discount.
showing €37,50 EUR on your site
We can offer them for €32,50
Just send me a DM if you are interested and we'll get you started.
Thank you
Hi,
if 256 GB SSD is also fine, here for 20 EUR/month:
https://login.layer7.net/index.php?rp=/store/bare-metal-server-intel-xeon-v3v4-location-par1/hp-moonshot-m710x-l-intel-xeon-e3-1565l-32-gb-ram-ddr4-ecc-240-gb-nvme-1g-uplink
Why does it show €29.80 as the total due today?
Hi,
that will tell you the shop if you read it properly. There is a summary, i suggest you to read it.
Most probably thats the setup that will come with monthly payments. But you are the only one who see's the summary of the order you compiled.
Sure, keep in mind that our dedicated servers have up to 24h of delivery, usually less during the working hours of Moldova (day timezone)
We can't compete with OVH and other big providers, so that is our offer.
Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions regarding stock, delivery, sales etc

I'll take a look and consider it as an option too
Hey, thanks a lot for the offer! That's a solid deal, especially with the storage upgrade and discount on a yearly plan. It's a bit above my budget right now, but I'll definitely keep it in mind and let you know if I decide to go with it.
We've also just added another server to the stock, which would be closer to your budget:
1x Intel Core i5-1135G7, 24GB RAM, 256GB NVMe, €27,50/mo
The annual commitment discount on this config would be 10%, or we can upgrade the storage with the 5% discount
I'd like confirmed before proceeding.
The i5-8525U is a U series mobile chip, built for power efficiency rather than sustained throughput. With proper cooling it can generally hold up fine under continuous load, but I'd like to confirm your setup handles this. What's the cooling and thermal design on your end, and is sustained performance maintained under 24/7 workloads?
1x Intel Core i5-8525U, 20GB RAM, 512GB NVMe, 1TB HDD,
All servers are located in a cooled datacenter environment with sufficient airflow through the rack. This also means that the devices are dust-free and should not thermal throttle as a result of environmental factors.
Please check the config I listed, though; I had to edit the message, as that config was already sold out again.
The one available is: Intel Core i5-1135G7, 24GB RAM, 256GB NVMe, €27,50/mo
Hi , Which country is your server located in ? Please provide the testing IP, thank you .
Mobile chips eh? Can I colo my laptop there?
@William
The servers are located in The Netherlands. I'll DM you the IP.
Would be possible, just send a DM if you are interested
