nice offer
Soooo how long is that lifetime? 1 year? 2 years? 6 months?
As long as you keep the service.
I've got both a Lieutenant and a Commodore instance with them in NL, on different nodes.. both are dang near VDS. single & multi thread is near advertised, scales well and 0.0% steal. Great disk performance as well, seems to scale with the package (IOPS increases proportionately to the tier of package). None of their packages on any of the nodes I've used are oversold, at all.
They do get some heat because:
1) they had a ridiculously good deal once (deadpool status) and folks got pissed every offer wasn't the same since.. although their BF deals were amazing imo.
2) some random network issues recently, which I wasn't affected by (or maybe never noticed).
3) support can be a bit difficult to navigate at times.
still, would highly recommend.
How long will the company last, was my question.
'bout the same experience here. Was lucky to be one of the users that got the "they may deadpool" deal, but am very happy with the performance.
Yeah, to be honest, there was quite a chance that the deal was too-good-to-be-true, but once in a while you're lucky with them and then you keep those VPSes, even if you don't have a real use for them, but for the future. Because you know you won't get it back. The gamble makes up for the ones that are drama in one way or another.
I was severely affected by it and complained about it a lot. And since it took about a month to fix (after quite some time of not acknowledging there was an issue), I think some kind of gesture of compensation would be good. I got an offer, but it's basically worthless (extra memory on a VPS that's only using half of it's memory); responded to the offer and that was exactly one month ago. Without response.
Yeah, would also probably. On the "holy trinity" of cheap VPSes they're lacking a bit on the support part, but for me that's the least important of the 3...
Not AMD Epyc though unless they upgraded. But yeah, have some of those deals still. And have been using them before that for years.
Not a summerhost. Their AMS network issues been somewhat annoying but overall, happy client.
Shit, it's really expensive.
Exactly. I don't know why people are calling it nice offer.
There is increase in price but 1C1G30GB for 1 TB is 42 dollar/year? That too not in Asia but in Netherland?
If someone wants cheaper package, then there's a better alternative with Airnode for Netherlands.
1C2G25GB at 2 euro/month.
And solid provider.
Mini sailor was 9€/year in megaposts last year. Especially after the recent network problems the price is not justifiable at all. Try 12/year to gain the trust back.
).
Same here, downtime was a nightmare but it was okay for me since i was only hosting a not so serious project. I didn't want to contact them knowing that they'd be flooded with support requests... but damn, looks like they only reward those who are loud enough.
Initially I was like "well, they have an issue, they will most likely be aware of it themselves, don't want to raise a ticket". Then it became "this is taking a bit long, let's raise a ticket". And when they initially didn't take it seriously, I became louder. Basically because what I really hate is when I (a customer) have to tell a provider that they have an issue which in almost all cases can be seen themselves quite easily by simple monitoring. And when they put it away as "nothing wrong" I get pretty angry.
I know, you have customers of all kinds; from the ones you have to explain what an IP address is for to the ones who run big environments and networks on their daytime jobs and have a VPS for a hobby project.
And from my years of experience with (LET) providers I know that you have to point out to them that they have obligations against their customers and if you don't do it, you often don't get it. So that combined makes that I let (or LET) go of going after it sometimes when they didn't offend me, but when they did, I can get loud.
How much do you pay for the server?
In my opinion that doesn't matter. A hoster is usually very aware of what they offer. If that offer implies that you get something different as another user who pays a different amount for the same product, then they should mention that. E.g. Hosthatch does that: LET/cheaper offers that have tickets raised are lower in prority to them.
With the "special offers" on LET, HostSailor used the same names as normal products, with the same specs, but only a lower price of some freebees added to it. Nowhere it was mentioned that something is different compared to how users are treated. So I can do the same.
If you have salad that's on sale you can expect the same ingredients and food safety regulations followed as when that salad is not on sale. Except when it's a "last day good until" sale, then it's mentioned and you could choose not to take it for that reason.
Ok so you pay $6/y, use it in some kind of production and demand compensation? Very interesting approach.
Where did I say that? Nowhere.
I've explained what my opinion is, you've made clear what yours is (several times also on other threads). Everybody is entitled to their own opinion; no need to imply stuff that I didn't say.
@barbaros Just to clarify, the 25% discount is recurring for the lifetime of the service. As long as the VPS remains active, the discounted price continues on future renewals.
