I'm going to have this image going through my head during their upcoming maintenance now...
if ur in the business of images goin thru ur head, there might be better choices...
i'm sure @host_c will appreciate, too
Uhh, yeap, that is the team, so I will be babysitting this as well.
No offense @AlteredParadox , but @maverick beat you to the PIC in mind while doing the upgrade, yet, that will make things much harder

Cheers!
I replied you here as we were derailing the tread you asked the question.
For context, most of our storage nodes are Dell R740xd servers with 24 drives in RAID 60, arranged as either 2 × 12-drive or 3 × 8-drive groups. We use these configurations for our Balanced series and for the promotional plans we advertise on LE*.
Our VDS and Performance series run exclusively on RAID 10.
For NVMe storage, we use Dell Add-In Cards with onboard capacitors for power-loss protection. The nodes generally have 512 GB of DDR4 RAM.
Network connectivity is provided through redundant uplinks: 2 × 10 Gbps on the older nodes and 2 × 25 Gbps on the newer ones, configured with LACP.
However, I am not presenting this as a universal standard that every provider must follow. This is simply the formula we have chosen based on our infrastructure, experience, workloads, and risk tolerance. Every provider is free to design and operate its platform differently. - and it should so diversity can exist
@marventanire - since I put my mouth where my money is:
We should also keep in mind that this is a community forum, not a regulated VPS marketplace where every seller must follow the same infrastructure blueprint before being allowed to advertise ( or any bare minimum ). Different providers will use different hardware, RAID layouts, redundancy levels, backup policies, and pricing models. - Hence the diversity
What matters is that providers describe their services honestly and that customers understand what is—and is not—included.
Also, users here kinda filter out what is and what is not BS in a couple of moths.
Some of the providers here are also young—sometimes very young. Hello, kids.

Many started hosting as a side project or hobby. Some naturally lack operational experience and may initially believe that a simple mirrored pair is sufficient for every workload, or that a Samsung EVO/Pro consumer NVMe will perform like an enterprise drive under continuous hosting use.

Given enough time, they will learn, sometimes through painful failures, that storage infrastructure does not always behave as expected ( usually is quite the opposite of the math on paper once cache runs out ). Those who want to remain in this business will gradually improve their platforms, introduce better redundancy, monitoring and power-loss protection, and move toward more resilient designs.
However, those improvements cannot realistically be delivered indefinitely through services costing $5 per month. That is something the community also needs to understand.
At that price point, customer expectations must remain realistic. A coffee can cost $1–2, yet it does not require expensive servers, replacement drives, networking equipment, datacentre space, support staff, or a machine consuming around 0.7 kW continuously.
This does not excuse misleading advertising or negligence. A provider should deliver what was promised, regardless of price. Nevertheless, customers cannot reasonably expect a $5 service to include the same hardware, redundancy, backups, support and operational guarantees as a substantially more expensive enterprise service.
I have the upmost respect for all the providers here who work hard simply to reach the next month, regardless of the setup their infrastructure has reached.
At the same time, let us not forget that some providers in this community operate infrastructure so impressive that even Microsoft or AWS might look at some of their “toys” with interest.
As I said before, this community has enormous diversity, and that is one of its greatest strengths. However, users should adjust their expectations to the price paid and carefully check what the service actually includes.
It is a two-way street: providers must be honest about what they sell, and customers must remain realistic about what their money can purchase. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for.
Mocking a fella for a 10 USD / Year service that does not have 99.999999999% uptime is, well, unrealistic dumb.
I need to emphasise this.
You're running client infrastructure on a single internal RAID controller with no redundancy?
What happens when that RAID controller fails?
Can you give me a link to your 10 USD/year services you have for sale? Your website seems to be 7 euros a month minimum
I agree!!! Host-C claims "RAID 10 / RAID 60 Storage arrays are designed for redundancy and controlled failover." right on their main page yet just showed they don't have redundancy and rely on single controller.
A RAID CARD IS NOT A STORAGE ARRAY!!!!
lol
lol, well at least we fond the typo and will fix it.
THX!
So...
With that email...
Promo VPS Panama - Storage 3TB - I188
I take it this is on the block for changes?
Yupp. Mails are being drafted in the upcoming days with migration options.
What formula you will opt for refund?
By month or by day or something different?
Because if it becomes 100% increase such as in oplink, it will be impossible for me to continue which I renewed last month for another year.
Yupp, 2x fuq.
Sorry, we dragged this as much as we could, but we really don't have any other options left in the "idea bucket".
None, as we will not have another 55 page debate for ~1 USD mismatch for a 10 USD service. If you will not wish to migrate ( and we perfectly understand those that do not ), you have a magic button for that. " Request Cancellation " - that will set the service to be canceled at current billing end.
I think it is more fair this way.
Yes. It seems more fair.
Perhaps you and a lot of other providers do not show up for the upcoming Black Friday.
This is probably going to force me to turbo invest in my "homelab that is actually production and has critical services with an SLA" location.
The best we can do under current conditions, so the price increases doesn't become a regular thing, is to give X moths at Y% Discount, ore light % discounts on promos. Other then that, I have no idea.
WD, Seagate, Samsung, Ihynix, nVidia did not disclose when this shit will stop.
Sorry fellas, we held it back as much as we could.
Dear Customer,
As part of our commitment to transparency, we wish to inform you about an upcoming change affecting selected promotional services purchased between 2023 and 2025.
Due to current market conditions and increased operating costs, some of these promotional services can no longer be maintained under their existing pricing and conditions.
Over the coming days, customers holding an affected service will receive an individual email containing:
This announcement is being sent to all customers for transparency. If you do not hold one of the affected promotional services, no changes will be made to your account, and no action is required.
Services provided free of charge under sponsorship arrangements are not affected by these changes. They will continue to operate according to the original sponsorship terms agreed for the 2026–2027 period.
Customers with affected promotional services do not need to take any action until they receive their individual service notice. Current prepaid service periods, prices, and expiry dates will remain unchanged.
Thank you for your understanding and for being a HOST-C customer.
Kind regards,

Because of one "Deal Compiler Extraordinaire" fella managed to make it so.

I think soon you can code it to popcorn? let's see where this will go, shall we?
We need a megathread
Detail me what you have in mind?
Where do I backup my Linux ISOs after this
Let's inflate @yoursunny's new list. Providers, post price increases here. Let's go!Ramflation meets LET hostPrice increase is a sign of deadpool?Refugee deals?
