I'll ask how to handle this thing.
Since it's the weekend now, everyone can also resolve this issue through a ticket.
As far as I know, custom ISO images are not currently supported.
The same thing, ticket opened, waiting for the answer.
Got a reply pretty quick. I don't really care given that it's like $6/yr, but still a little odd to have it change without a word.
"You won’t see any performance drop on a 1–2 core VPS with the Xeon Gold 6152. Both the Gold 6152 and the Platinum 8168 feature the exact same maximum turbo frequency of 3.70 GHz. Both cpu's offer roughly 2070 passmark single-thread."
It's not true, I feel the difference and bench show the same:
Original:
For now:
oh damn, im running yabs on both mine at the moment - i ended up with one on platinum and one on gold, ill see what mine looks like.
I mentioned that one was on gold and one was on platinum, and support said "Yes, but if you make any changes, it will switch to the Gold CPU" - so... not sure what's going on at this point.
My yabs would agree with you:
us-ca-cnm01 (now on gold)
us-ca-cnm02 (still on platinum)
Quick edit to add: after providing the above to support, they said they'll escalate it to Tier 2 to investigate, so we'll see what comes of that.
I believe after reboot it will be moved to the Gold. Because yesterday my VPS was Platinum too, but I have had some glitches on it, after reboot, it moved to Gold and glitches went gone (((
@Tang_Lichun, turn on vm now. Ticket #421901
You can do that in the panel....
Did your family teach you to grow up being nice & kind, no?
😂
I always just imagine a 3 year old child throwing a tantrum with these kinds of posts. "NOW NOW NOW"
And you know what, over a 50 cents service
code expired nowdays lol
I would make a LET thread tagging @Tang_Lichun and demand the new code, NOW
Several of the boxes are still $9/annual if you look at the panel... still pretty damn good. but yeah, code expired.
I'm reminded if this ancient commercial:
wait, $9/yr? what?
Toronto and Chicago at least, if you select the 3.99/mo plan and change the billing to annual, its $9.
It's likely the machine stuck in limbo:
Unless you have important data, don't open the ticket. Reinstalling, tinkering with the control panel could fix it
I did use netboot.xyz but it doesn't work properly.
Seems like they ran outta room on the platinum's and did some kind of re balancing - just got another reply from support on mine:
Got the same answer, well, will be a loyal, and give them a time.
I picked up one in LA and NY. Tried Debian 13, but the template must be corrupt as the console was stuck on a kernel panic. Rebuilt as Debian 11 and upgraded to 13 manually.
LA: Intel(R) Xeon(R) Platinum 8168 CPU @ 2.70GHz
NY: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2699 v4 @ 2.20GHz
Oddly, the disk in LA is much faster. NY is more consistent--the munin graphs are showing latency spikes of 100+ ms (!) in LA. Noisy neighbors? (I think the storage is network attached, right?)

NY:
/dev/vda vs. /dev/sda is also interesting.
the deal over ?
yes
Got the node in Toronto. Multiple restarts. Horrible uptime.
I guess, you get what you pay for.
I raised this issue, so I must be fair and tell you Cloudnium's response. Loose power cable in the datacenter which has been replaced. So far, so good.
