my advice would be to start small as a reseller to understand the billing software (like WHMCS) and support tickets system first. Once you get the hang of managing clients and handling technical issues, you can scale up to your own infrastructure.
All jokes aside, that's probably a good idea. It's easy to get into and is relatively low-risk, so when things inevitably become too difficult, you won't have burned tens of thousands of dollars and you'll learn a valuable lesson. And if for some reason you end up doing really well? Great, now you can start scaling up by renting a dedi and hosting on that. And when that stops scaling, you can take the next step. No need to jump into buying a whole rack and entering into a long-term colo contract.
