Ask yourself: why would you need a DMCA ignore VPS. Is it copyrighted content? Is it content that doesn't suit the US? Is it something else?

Then look at a provider that claims DMCA ignore: in what country is that provider registered? In what country does he have the servers? How are regulations regarding what you need DMCA ignore for in those countries? How strict are they in those countries in going after those things? How visible will you be (big, content, etc)?

Then you'll get an idea of which hosts that claim to be DMCA ignore can actually live up to that. Because in my opinion it's simple: if the police in country X comes after you, and your servers and/or the company you're doing business with are in X, in the end they'll be able to seize.

I always more liked to find ISPs with broken abuse emails in their IPs, especially common in Thailand, Vietnam and China. Sadly now i think the RIRs do verify abuse emails, so at least they arrive (which does not mean shit i many places).

No DMCA issues if the mail never arrives and your ISP doesnt speak a single word english anyway.

in most cases, it is just marketing gimmick

it all nails down to how much you are paying and is it worth the risk

nobody will risk legal issues for your $5 service

for $500 or $5000, there is different story.

DMCA ignore doesn't mean law ignore.

The DMCA is a procedure where someone can say your server is hosting illegal content, and then your hosting provider deletes it. This is easily abused, because if you lie (which is a crime) you can get servers taken down even if they aren't doing anything illegal. There are good reasons to want a hosting provider that doesn't delete your server just because someone said it was illegal. And there are good reasons for hosting providers to advertise they won't take down your server just because someone said it was illegal. They probably get more customers and higher prices if they promise not to do that.

No you can't trust it because some of them say they'll ignore DMCA and then take your server down anyway when they get a DMCA.

I can think of at least 5 companies off the top of my head that I believe would really DMCA-ignore. Obviously I won't say which ones.

If you're actually doing something illegal, then whoever wants your server taken down can still go to a court and get a court order to take your server down, and they can find out who you are and put you in jail, so you shouldn't do crimes even if your server is DMCA ignored.

If in doubt, there is always PRQ.
