A MJJ claimed that residential IP access can be bought for $4 and called me a fool,Really?

Hi everyone, I’m a second-year CS student.
While browsing online recently, someone called me unwise, even crazy for spending $20 a month on a US residential IP connection. The strange thing is, that $20 option was actually the cheapest I could find on the entire market.
**This person claimed that some VPS providers don't realize their egress IPs are residential, so they sell them at standard rates—as low as $4. I tried asking for details, but they wouldn't share specifics (which I understand). So, did I really get ripped off? **😂
My main goal is to prevent my $200/month GPT Pro subscription from automatically routing to GPT-4o mini—especially since my monthly living budget is only $300. Do any of you have recommendations?
Any North American residential IP works, as my frontend server is a DMIT AN5 Pro TINY. I only need it for AI-related tasks.
PS: If you're worried about abuse, feel free to DM me—I’m happy to make a formal pledge. I promise to treat the IP responsibly: limiting it to personal use, preventing WebRTC leaks, disabling ICMP packets, using an antidetect browser, etc.

Nice long dashes. You'd guess the stupid AI that puked this out this blurb would at least manage to format it in a somewhat readable manner... Maybe someone else will torture themself to read this slop but i sure won't.
Sorry, but this isn't AI. I used translation software. My English isn't very good.
I just want to know whether I can buy a residental VPS with less than 10 dollars, That's it. Sorry for the inconvenience. I should study English further
By the way, I am very curious that the English speaker really think that is hard to read? Honestly, as a non-native speaker, I feel OK thought🤓
You probably can. Will it be worth your time though? I very much doubt it. Just use a little common sense.
It doesn't have that much to do with being a native speaker or not but more with the fact that long texts without paragraphs are painful to read. That applies to pretty much any language.
hmm, yeah. OP looks like this

Im glad I wasnt the only one thinking this
No Macbook? What the fuck is wrong with this guys priorities?
Love the effort, but there is many way you can save, even on that $200 GPT plan. Save your money for the study bro.
Spend that $200 GPT Pro into English class, if you're in HCMC I can connect to a reliable TOEIC mentor.
Honestly, it's OK. If I want to get 30 dollars. I have to move 12kg water from floor one to floor seven for about 42 times. And I can't get the order everyday. It depends on the demand. But thank you sir. Even if I am in a intern. I can't make money on this cause I can only get 25dollars everyday and I need to pay for the food and apartment for 40 dollars per day. Probably when I get a job it will be OK. I don't use translators this tims
copy that, I've optimized it. Is it now much better?😄
Wait, he said another $20 goes to residential IP. So, the rest of his entire expenditure is $80/month. That's roughly $2.66/day or 18.133CNY.
Almost that hhh. Due to my university have the special offer to the student in school. So i can have a meal with 0.5 dollar. However, it tastes horrible for it only have boiled vegetables
Oh my god
Actually I use an old thinkpad hahahaha, is it much more suitable for the photo?
I think you need a mentor in spending before anything else.
So, your dorm got no lift !?!? Can't you make motorized pulley?
no, I am in China right now. Our university have English lessons and I have already passed the CET4. Now I'm speaking with you without any translators.
That's much better my dude.
@Rubben look, bro in the AI haven and spend $200 for US-GPT
Yes, you can see my comments below. Food for 1 dollar. Fruit for 0.5 dollar. And the water for 1dollar.
Monthly budget of $300 for a student is actually good from my view. And what are you doing with GPT Pro $200/month plan btw?? I think you should focus on cutting that cost first. You can try opencode zen if you want access to gpt else try opencode go which is actually good, I tried minimax model which was very good.
Ok, here's illustration for everyone of $0.5 dollar meal looks like
Not to mention the residental IP fees to add up to that $200.
I buy gpt for codex. I have to use codex to build some wonderful project so that I can have more chance to get a better intern and a job. And I use chatgpt to plan my career and learn something new
I'm sorry to hear that but the maths behind providing services on residential lines doesn't really care. The line costs $XX(X?) and IPs cost on top of that (+ likely also have an upper limit). The resulting price will therefore be $XX(X?) divided by amount of users (likely limited by the amount of IPs the ISP hands out) + cost of IP + some arbitrary profit. If all of that comes out as $4 there's basically bound to be something fishy going on.
Sure, i can NAT 20 people on a $50 consumer line (or cut the line entirely and just root/social engineer some adequate box) and turn a profit but noone is going to have much fun with that. The IP will be dirty in no time and once any of the XX users draws DDoS it's game over anyways (would likely apply to a business line too). Also the ISP will cut of the host as soon as they notice what's going on since it's a TOS violation, so they aren't going to get any kind of support at all.
Use OpenCode, try with $5 for their first month in my sig links.
And there is commandcode.ai
And tons of other providers from China with ridiculously cheap price.
Not that bad. It just the boiled vegetables and potatoes and pork. I said it was bad because of its flavor and sometimes the vegetables are not well cooked, it's half raw.
Your current spending priorities is not OK at all, please do not be honest it's OK.
It is not just me pointing it out here in this thread, it's your call to listen to the advise or not.
I'm not jump into this if I'm not reading your name as a fellow VNese, also, you carry the same last name as me.
