[Resolved] .OVH Domain Registration Issue

edited June 24 in General

Yesterday, I wanted to purchase a .ovh domain for a demo project. I checked tld-list.com and found the domain status to be "available." However, when I tried to register the domain on ovh.com, the system displayed the following message:

The .ovh extension is temporarily unavailable for registration, but renewals are still possible. In the meantime, we invite you to try another extension (.com, .net...).

I tried other .ovh domains as well, and the same message appeared for each one. I have waited over 24 hours, but it seems the issue with .ovh domain registration has still not been resolved.

How much longer is this "temporarily unavailable" situation actually going to last? 🧐

    Ah... I see!
If that’s the case, it is no longer impossible for .ovh to be deprecated.

You can still get them it’s a slightly longer process (like 2 steps longer lol)

    Thanks for the information :)
I will renew all of my .ovh domains anyway. And I will watch it more carefully.

I can't imagine why they decided to do this. Probably their operational costs with their own TLD will remain the same. Maybe I'm wrong but I not experienced lot of abuses (for example: phishing) from this domain extension. Also very interesting for me the Registry (=OVH) why not informed their exist users/owners directly by email, etc about this changes. Because technically this is a "basic" rule change.

    I'm also interested, curious. :)
If it's not public you can share me in PM also (if You want). Thx.

When I try to renew my domain manually it just gives me an error.

Same, I can confirm too. Opened a ticket to their support about it.

Let me know if you get a response

I've got a fast, friendly response by their support. They are created an order for each affected .ovh domain manually. It was available on the 'orders' page (in unpaid status), but provided direct URL to them in the ticket response also. Interesting solution, but worked. I was able to pay, renew them.

Probably (I hope) they will solve this problem, because I don't think it would be unique. Or they hope lot user/owner simple accept the "not renewable" error, and let it expire. (but not me:).
