I don't know how many providers has 400TB of drives laying around because the prices of drives right now is crazy. 1PB of data is not too bad because that is equivalent of 3G port at 100% utilization for 30 days.

Anyways, this is the closest to 400TB that seems to be available.

You will need less than 10 if it's for logs and compressed. 75TB for 250$.

    Hi,

    thank you for the mentioning!

    Wont happen for this budget.

Wont happen for even 2x of this budget.

If ovh have something like this for 1.6k USD then this should be grabbed instantly before ovh realize what buying this HDD space currently cost.

I just paid 18k EUR for 36x 22 TB Seagate disks... So this 24x 22 disks alone have a countervalue of >10k.

    1 PB traffic ( thats > 3 Gbit/s ) are alone worth easily 250-300 EUR / month.

    • the server itself that can handle all this and colocated in some real datacenter ~ 300 EUR colocation cost / month.

So this 650 USD / month barely pay running cost. The hardware itself is maybe 16k to buy currently. So the question is, you as provider, how many months/years/decades you want to wait until making the first real EUR ;-)

So again... 1.6k USD => good price! Take it while its there.

If we were supposed to deliver this i wont even start calculating before there is a 2k EUR budget.

In what world do you really require 400TB of logs? After you ingest and learn from them, maybe you need 1 year worth of retention, but you aren't doing 400TB within a year and if you are, you're doing logging all wrong.

Yeah we can do that, you will have to get approved for a mortgage though. We do not accept preapprovals.

We would also need payment for extra health insurance for the remote hands installing the servers.

yeah the prices for drives is insane. Even with lower capacity drives, you are going to need a lot of them.

Your budget is going to be a problem, but we're sitting on ~250T of storage. If you can take 250T of usable we could make the budget work. If you can ~2.5x your budget we could do 400T with a setup fee.

We intend to run raid 1 + 0, so therefore we only have 200TB> useable, which gives us roughly 500GB+-/24 hour of logs.

Sadly we have been getting a junk load of DDoS attacks, both layer 4 and layer 7.

We intend to release our platform Sentry Intel, which gives us the ability to have very in depth telemetry data for us.

23-25 per TB ( HDD only ), so, you can do $2 per TB per month?

    Hi,

yeah well in a world where we do not use any checksum'ing filesystem or data redundancy, this plain math might work.

But there we do not want to go... thats a very dark road for a storage cluster with hundreds of disks and multiple storage nodes...

But yes, in general we currently build up something that has a target selling price for each TB of 2-3 EUR / month. Lets see what the math will say after its all setup.
