Just got this from The.Hosting, apparently related to this https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/netherlands-seizes-800-servers-of-hosting-firm-enabling-cyberattacks/ as others reported...
**IMPORTANT: Notice of Service Discontinuation and Account Closure
**
Dear Customer,
We are writing to inform you that due to unforeseen and unavoidable force majeure circumstances, THE.Hosting is forced to permanently discontinue all its operational services and wind down its activities.
As a result, our platform, support channels, and all associated services will be closed in the coming days.
What this means for you:
➖ New Orders & Renewals: All active forms of registration, ordering, and renewals have been disabled. No new services can be purchased.
➖ Data & Accounts: If you have any active data, configurations, or account details stored within our systems, we urgently advise you to retrieve and back up your information immediately.
➖ Final Termination: Once the wind-down process is completed, all accounts and data will be permanently deleted from our systems.
We deeply regret that we are forced to take this step and understand the inconvenience this causes. We want to thank you sincerely for your partnership and trust in THE.Hosting over the past period.
Sincerely,
The Management of THE.Hosting

at least a portion of cyber attacks are gonna lower.
anyone know already their new operation brand
just a matter of time or they go grey and use middleman
Round about way of saying "we got fucking raided"
Questionable, they'll just find someone else
@thehosting @pqhosting important news don't miss
Say what you like about The.Hosting - their VPSs in Greece were solid!
inb4 fifth rebrand
They haven't announced same on their ufo.hosting brand FYI
Is WorkTitans/The.Hosting linked to other brands (besides ufo.hosting)?
@HostSlick when?
No refund? I have several yealy vps and 30 EU balance.
This company should be whole shut down.
dont expect it
Wanna be hacker proof? Host where they host
They offered annual promotions and then decided to close!
wheres the hardware being liquidated give me that cheap cheap hardware
Decided? They lost hundreads of servers to the feds xD
Very good
looks solid xD
Full of my sympathy for the victims (who losing services, money).
But I never liked them..
Shady rebranding previously, Shady promotions (cheap vps renewable only for 6 months, Offered promo plans what never was on stock/orderable, etc), Complete IP ranges on firewall for recurring abuses.
Another new reborn, rebranding coming?
They had servers in very exotic locations for quite an affordable price.
Armenia, Bosnia, Chile, Greece, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia to name a few.
thats sad
Were they real locations though? I saw their pricing and it looks quite unsustainable even considering low-end pricing.
Can’t confirm those locations. Can confirm Nz was 100% real and they’ve just withdrawn at least 3 of the /24s that were out of NZIX.
So they’re pulling out very fast after that notice.
I believe they were, since they were quite transparent about which datacenter it was hosted at. Also:
https://looking.house/companies/the-hosting/looking-glass
the latency/traceroutes match.
Faking locations with geoip tricks is common for VPN providers, so your question is valid, but I never saw a VPS provider who is deliberately advertising fake locations.
Oh, there was one (likely more). I can't remember the name of the top of my head but at the end pretty much all of their locations were either Frankfurt or Milano or something. Their name started with O i think?
Edit: Virtono
https://www.virtono.com/cloud-vps
are they fake? I checked Hong Kong, looks real.
I don't know what they are doing these days. Maybe they cleaned up their act (or i'm mixing them up but i'm like 99% certain it was them). Maybe someone with less of a sieve brain then me remembers more details.
it's also common for dodgy (mostly russian) providers to put some fake data like Panama/Seychelles, but afaik this is done for dmca/abuse purposes and not for misleading the customers for being somewhere it's not. This wasn't the case with the.hosting, many less-known VPN services will have to close locations now.
