Need small/stable VPS close to Hetzner FIN with specifics

amarcamarc Veteran

Hello,

I host decent amount of local news portals that write all legal articles that some times (mostly 'criminals' ) do not like and "abuse" Hetzner's abuse with takedown reports.

Think of it as: I am a criminal, police arrested me but it's been a while and I want to get "back on track".. only if there was no articles about my acts from 3-4-5 years back. Now if someone googles me or my company I will be exposed.

Now I am tired of going back and forth with Hetzner, with my clients, with idiots.. I want to setup simple Proxy that will proxy all content to real website (Hetzner) but Cloudflare will only see that proxy IP address. Additionally I need provider that will understand there is no copyright, no flame etc.. just real police reports, news etc.. and that will simply ignore these.

I am also thinking sub 5-10 ms to Hetzner FIN.

Thanks for suggestions.

  • Doesn't Aluy resells hetzner servers for helsinki?

    Good luck with your search. The right to be forgotten is enshrined in European law under Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Any upstanding European company that ignores such a request is practically liable.

    they do resell hetzner servers but the helsinki vps location isn't hetzner.

    I would disagree here.

    1. Paragraphs 1 and 2 shall not apply to the extent that processing is necessary:
      (a) for exercising the right of freedom of expression and information;
      (c) for reasons of public interest in the area of public health in accordance with points (h) and (i) of Article 9(2) as well as Article 9(3);
      (d) for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89(1) in so far as the right referred to in paragraph 1 is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of the objectives of that processing;

    Saint Petersburg is around 10-20ms from there.
    They will ignore any western country "reports" most of the time.
    Try veesp, although you might need to open a ticket for the SPB location.
    @rustelekom has Finland but I don't know their abuse policy regarding EU locations.

    Thanks but I guess this makes sense when there is valid reason for this ? ie. court decided you are not guilty and you have right to be 'forgotten' ? Not when actual government (ie. police) press charges against you and court is yet to say if you are guilty or not. In this case news portal do exactly what they should do.. inform and report.

    As is always the case with legal interpretation, there’s no simple yes-or-no answer. It depends on the circumstances. I recommend hosting your service in the U.S. That way, you won’t run into any issues with this matter. Keep in mind that affected parties can force search engines to stop displaying your website in search results within the EU.

    at 50% commission??? that is expensive

  • Maybe @servers_guru can help you with that.
    And avoid Russian location/hosting provider like veesp - Hetzner is heavy banned/throttled by TSPU.

    GRE tunnels are not banned. Only "known" VPN protocols. Veesp has also locations nearby like LV/SE but OP wanted something "western bulletproof".

    You could probably to even higher without anyone noticing.

    VSYS should probably ignore the reports. https://vsys.host/cheap-vps-hosting
