A few providers have done this, and I thought I'd join the club. We get a lot of questions via tickets & Discord (sometimes), and while some of the LET peeps know who we are, many do not. I figured this may be a good opportunity to just say hi in a post that is not a promotion

I'll keep it as short and sweet as I can!

About DF

  • Pronounced Digital Fire (You can also call us "DF" for short)
  • Started in 2009 in Florida, then moved to Massachusetts in 2016, 17 years in business this month
  • Small Team

What do you sell?

Production-ready services: We offer services suitable for those who want to buy and use them in production, not leave them idle. Of course, nobody is stopping you from letting the VPS sit idle, but it'd be a waste of money to pay this much for an idle machine

  • Shared Hosting: Plesk, CloudLinux, JetBackups.
  • WordPress Hosting: WP Cloud-powered, and some plans are PanelAlpha Engine-powered (a lot cheaper)
  • VPS: AMD Ryzen and Epyc across the board, 8 locations (Los Angeles & Singapore are almost always out of stock)
  • Bare Metal: Expensive, but stable, and very niche. We sell those on a "build per order" basis, and we offer them in the U.S. only. For those who are happy with a Single-tenant VM (for ease of management), where the whole node is dedicated to you and runs a single VM, we can do this at nearly any location where we have presence
  • Email Hosting: Open-Xchange (via WHMCS marketplace) and Mailcow ($1.00/mo per Mailbox, and it is our own, unique offering and take on simple email hosting. It's actually pretty good, and customers who use it like it a lot because it gets the job done)

To Do

  • A live location capacity status page for our VPS locations
  • Add more stock in some locations
  • Explore the possibility of expanding into other regions

Answers to some questions we've been asked before

  • Port 25 on VPS: Blocked.
  • $7.00/yr: No plans.
  • Promotional offers: As often as we can.
  • Underlying tech:

    • Shared Hosting: Plesk + CloudLinux
    • WordPress Hosting: Panel Alpha with WP Cloud and PanelAlpha Engine
    • VPS:

      • VirtFusion
      • KVM
      • QCOW2
    • Email: Open-Xchange & Mailcow

    • Domains: Enom & Moniker
  • Why do you post on LET, despite being more expensive than many other providers? Why not? Some folks are still after a different type of product, and our promotions on LET have been successful (a huge thank you to all of you!)

Fun Facts

  • Our first hosting customer, who signed up in 2010, is still with us, and they have multiple active services. Many others have been with us for 10 to 14 years and are still going strong
  • We currently have presence in 8 data center locations, and 8 was my jersey number back when I played basketball (I once dunked so hard, I broke the rim :joy:)
  • I am an excellent cook

The purpose of this post is just to chit-chat. It's not for support requests (support is done via tickets). You can ask how I'm doing, how many cups of coffee I drink per hour, ask about expansion plans, stock availability, hardware configurations, and what my Christmas plans are (likely eat a big meal and take a nap). You can say "Hey, I like your services" or even "Hey! I am not a fan of yours", both are perfectly fine. You can, if you wish, share your experience, negative or positive, or just come and say hi. It's all good.

Welcome to our nice little chi-chat, drama-free corner. That's all
