Is there any hourly based dedis (or VPS/VDS)?
hello, based on title im looking if there is any providers that offer hourly based servers for temp projects. Based on what i know
(π = My current fav)
Onidel π (VPS, VDS?)
CherryHostπ (dedi, VPS, VDS)
Xenyth π (VPS, VDS?, dedi (US LOC ONLY))
UpCloud π (VPS, VDS?)
Vultr (VPS, VDS?, dedi)
Linode (VPS, VDS?)
DO (VPS, VDS?)
Azure (VPS)
Hetzner Cloud (VPS, VDS?)
AEZA (VPS/VDS)
Is there any other providers that do hourly based costs + is there a Trial/credits so i can benchmark/test a dedi/vps? I also want to know a few things:
- Do you have Debian 13 (for OS, 12 is fine but eh)
- What locations do you have (+ any non-mainstream or just citys away from the popular ones)
- Do you offer a trial/test vps? (24hours is fine, small credits too)
What i am going to run:
Docker containers (neko browser, if it's a VDS/dedi)
Iperf3
yabs
nws.sh
vnstat (for bandwidth real usage against the panel)
fastfetch (for server stats)
htop
I am going to collect logs from the server for analyzing and archiving
Thanks in advance,
Fubuki

Hetzner do hourly billing, but the setup fee is about 4 months worth at the moment, so the hourly billing seems a bit pointless! But you might get lucky with a server auction.
EDIT: was thinking dedis, they do other stuff too, but I've not used them.
Haven't used Hetzner in months to years at this point. last time i used it was like hourly iirc and it was like 0.01 euro. for the dedis, i don't think they offer hourly dedis since those are monthy
No, they are hourly, just with an excessive setup fee that makes it pointless.
i was talking about the dedi servers that costed monthly for the server auctions but nvm, i thought it was something else. i noticed that OVH does hourly vps now but im going to assume all VPS locations are still OOS
Well, you could always get an auction box. Those don't require setup. At least if Hetzner didn't change it over the last couple years.
layer7 has 48h Trial vps but its monthly not hourly
oh, @layer7 i have seen them before but 48 hours for a trial vps is fine by me. Their test servers are in France but their Germany Test servers seem to be OOS since i like to test Germany first but im more unsure about France. I'm also not sure if they would allow me to test both locations on a VDS? i guess i will have to wait until @layer7 responds in my DMS or here about if i can test 2 VDS/VPS servers at once?
Hi,
thank you for your interest.
Currently we are running hard out of IO resources. Thats why german test server are currently set to sold out.
Extending the storage is currently too expensive. So we will introduce a new product with NVMe on local storage.
Long story short: Please allow ~ 2-3 days if any possible.
I am currently also heavy working on a new billing system and if i am lucky it will be finished in the next 1-2 weeks. As soon as its there, we will be able to offer virtual infrastructure on an hourly base too.
Ah and so far, i received 0 DM's from you, just wanted to mention that.
I see, i can wait a few more days until Germany is back in stock but in the meantime, can i try out the France test servers if your fine with me using the VDS test plan. I can message you the order ID in DMS or here? I can wait a few more weeks and test the new hourly vps/vds if it's available like for testing n such but anyhow yeah
i would like to see something new to layer7 is control panel is slow somehow and not good for my eye, please add dark moe too and optimize it for phone too
Hi,
thanks for the input/feedback!
The speed issues are thanks to WHMCS. That is one major reason why i am (trying to) do this transition.
Darkmode or Phone was not yet in the focus. But yes, naturally it should be included.
If you have things like this, and it seems you are a customer, feel free to open a ticket with such things so we have some feedback/input we can work on. Dont be shy to tell us where we lack of what ever :-)
If its you who i think is you, then i approved now the 9950X3D test server for france ( while i think the resources there are also close to explode ).
I placed a new node today in germany, so in general it has again capacity now.
Feel free to order a 9950X3D test server from germany (too).
And if ever possible, please use our ticketsystem. Its much more easy/handy for me to react there compared to here via DM's.
sorry oliver i'm actually a lil shy guy
so it runs for the whole month im assuming? and 48h is just a evaluation window?
I am the only one who thinks that 48 hours "free no credit card" is more than enough
to "evaluate" a VPS? You can netboot 10 different OS templates during that time. Or yabs it
1000 times. Or just watch it doing the tasks you actually need, and then just pay it if you feel like it's fine?
People demand too much for free these days.
Hourly Dedicated Server?
CherryServer.
Shameless aff links Plug If you feels Great

CherryServers, oh iv used them before, ig i fucked up the post with naming "CherryHost" and not "CherryServers" but the support is really nice though
i did yabs it on the second hour since i had to upgrade from 12 to 13. im just here collecting data
Hello, @angstrom i don't know if you can edit my thread but can you change "CherryHost" to "CherryServers" i guess i might have overlooked it when i made the thread. Thanks
Aruba Cloud here.
For our side:
If your main goal is short-term benchmarking rather than long-term commit, the hourly VDS option is probably the closest fit on our side.
