Was ist das
I bought a used Ryzen 3950x from a German guy and he shipped it to me bundling a German surprise in my package. I don't know if this is a custom-made 3D printed CPU holder or if AMD manufactures them, it definitely doesn't look injection moulded so I'd bet it's a DIY part, but the surface finish is much more refined than what I'd expect from a cheap CNC extrusion; the CPU also fits snugly in this box w/o play:

I'm also selling my old Ryzen 3900x in the pics above for 140€ if anyone is interested.

I doubt that's ESD safe. I'd rather the CPU being in the plastic protector it comes in.
Just go on thingiverse or the likes and look up cpu box. You'll find plenty models...
Looks like printed in petg on a textured plate. Nice gimmick and yes every cheap 3d printer meamwhile can do this.
Never saw anything 3D printed in person before this, surprised by the precision, smooth sliding lid and overall finish.
Yeah there has been quite some rather silent development over the last few years for materials as well as reliability.
Doesn't mean you still need to invest time and be willing to test around a lot and still might get bad results sometime 😄
But it is a fun hobby, there are lots of creative people out there to have brilliant ideas.
I hate when imgur are now blocked in uk
Just went on Thingiverse and found the exact model, although mine is produced in better quality. The pics below from Thingiverse are about the quality I would expect from DIY 3D printing, maybe these are from an older/cheaper printer:
Yeah as said, most time its more about material and settings. Its like websites, if you spend a bit more time selecting a good framework and setting it up properly, you will get smooth running results even on lowend vps ;-)
De-lidding?
Usually metal not plastic, pretty sure that thing would break.

no dents pins at least is enough
I searched AliExpress last year if the Chinese invented a machine to straighten bent pins on AM4 CPUs, apparently they have not, there is no such a tool on sale. Conceptually it would be a cheap simple machine to manufacture for correcting small misalignments that prevent the CPU from fitting. Ebay has a small supply of CPUs with bent pins that sell on discount.
use grandma needle to straighten those pins, hahaha.
I want a machine to do that, to reduce the labor required from the working class and increase the means of production for the capitalist. -- Das Kapital
