BYOIP for DMCA-ignored

akiraaakiraa Member

I was wondering if instead of using a DMCA-ignored host, would using something like https://mevspace.com/ with an IP of a custom ASN be a good way to avoid downtime due to DMCA's

    Its your IPs, you decide.

Of course they can go after your upstreams too, but generally thats less effective.

Usually DMCA ignored hosts are colocation customers with their own ASN and IP ranges that are using colocation/peering/transit outside USA.

If Mevspace is not dmca ignored it will not work

The main requirement here is that upstream does not follow dmca

Your /24 is just a plus so you dont piss upstream with too much abuse emails to deal with

    Exactly this.
Having own ASN doesn't generally make you "immune". If you are important enough, they will go after upstreams. That's where Russia might be your friend.
