Hi @JasonM -- thank you for the feedback! We are also very confident in our Los Angeles DC-03 location. Native IPv6 is supported, and the network blend there continues to improve, especially with the recent addition of Lumen/Crown Castle.
This facility is also much better positioned to support our growth, and long term operations. In fact, in addition to this migration phase, we’ve already committed to more racks for continued expansion.
More Los Angeles stock for RackNerd is coming
Yesterday.
IPv6 allocations from ARIN are pretty much free. Any commentary on why you aren't using your own IPv6?
@dustinc
Hi
I have a DC02 vps, and agree to migrate to new location, but don't want my websites donw.
so I opened a ticket, I ask your team, give me the migrated vps first(same plan, same price, same expire time), and I migrate the website from the old vps to new one by myself, then you cancel the old one, and cut credits from the migrated vps.
later I get a reply "Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a complimentary parallel replacement server with identical specifications for self-managed migration purposes as part of this relocation process." and give me 2 options, 1 migrate it now, server 1 hour down, 2 order a new server and old one refund credit.
I choosed 2, but your current new special offer is much more expensive, and the old plan is out of stock. so I ask if you can create an invoice simillar plan, simillar price. but seems still not available.
can u help me check it? I just want my website keep online. I will DM you the ticket NO
So, hours and hours of man work, $1/yr diff?
👍🏻
yeah, the team said no. after consideration, I decided to migrate to another vps and move back tomorrow.
Dustinc DM me, and agreed to create an invoice for new vps. but I see the message just now. any way, still thanks Dustinc.
It seems that only Racknerd has mentioned that Multacom is planning to shut down.
Neither Multacom nor other hosting providers have issued any related announcements.
He refers to "Our upstream colocation provider", so likely means they had services from a colocation provider who had space in the datacenter, not the datacenter provider themselves. He doesn't provide the company name.
i have to backup everything? im sure they are good
what chance is data loss
You should always keep backups, no matter what.
It depends who's driving the van they stick the servers in.
While RackNerd is an excellent host, datacenter-leased IPv4 addresses is the VPS hosting equivalent of ISP email.
There's a reason why it's a good idea to use free email or even your own email server.
Same applies for ISP IPv4 allocations: if your transit provider sucks you're kinda trapped. Not to mention some ISPs get bought out like nLayer (now GTT) and Internap (now Unitas).
CloudCone is also a Multacom tenant; they sent out an email yesterday stating IP addresses will be changed, but nothing about a location change or Multacom shutdown.
FWIW, my server came back alive about 10.5 hours ago, but had to check the control panel to get the IP address as there was no e-mail about it.
Hostname, /etc/hosts and SSH host key had all been overwritten, but otherwise all my data was there and happy.
Unfortunately the email (and control panel) don't include the full network info. It's missing the netmask and gateway for IPv4, and the default route and gateway for IPv6. Still getting all the info from support, though they're understandably probably swamped now.
I have just checked the new IPs,it seems owner is hostwinds. In 2015,Hostwinds acquired the assets of WeLoveServers, and then they terminated my vps saying it is sending spams, shit! I have never sent spams at all,so from then on,I hate hostwinds, and start to use other providers without issue until now.
And my email server blocked all email with rdns related to hostwinds.
All emails with default rdns related to hostwinds are blocked.
/^Received: .*hostwindsdns.com/ REJECT We do not accept any emails from hostwinds network!
Looks like it's swiped to HostPapa. There's no default RDNS on mine. No problem.
Support got the netmask/gateway stuff sorted out. Mine is on a /26 subnet.
SolusVM had updated all the network config on mine already. FWIW seems to be on a /26, so
netmask 255.255.255.192(mine was renumbered to 23.x.x.x) GW was subnet + 1.I have a custom install, so SolusVM can't update my network.
Subnet does not change, update your VPS network with new IP and the gateway the first IP in range.
Hmm, I should probably check on mine today or later tonight. It was a flash sale I sniped years ago which I actually migrated thing to a newer ryzen flash sale I sniped from the recent BF thread/event. I totally forget the state I left it in. I should at least set it up to be part of the #idle-gang until I have something for it
Possibly related, in case you didn't see it.
"Multacom Sued by Aon Center Landlord Over $401,128 in Alleged Unpaid Rent"

They're the same company with QuadraNet.
CloudCone and Multacom are both sub companies of Edge Centres.
P.S.

CloudCone said Edge Centers does NOT hold a stake anymore.
Their operation is to carry physical server from old building (Multacom) to the new building (ColoCrossing). So you may understand their way of thinking.
On the other hand, your requirements are reasonable as a customer side.
care to elaborate?
