Hi everyone,
I am looking for a free VPS or free trial option for testing and learning purposes.
Use case:
- Small .NET 8 API/worker deployment
- Open-source webhook project testing
- 1–2 users only
- Not for production
- MongoDB and Kafka can run externally if VPS resources are limited
Minimum specs:
- Linux VPS
- SSH/root access
- 1 vCPU
- 1 GB RAM is enough
- 10 GB SSD preferred
- Basic bandwidth is fine
- ARM64 is okay if Docker and .NET 8 work properly
I understand free VPS options are limited, so I am mainly looking for:
- Free trial
- Free cloud credit
- Community/dev testing offer
- Very low-cost fallback option
Please suggest trusted providers or current offers suitable for this use case.

Oracle free tier
Oracle perhaps? I've heard a lot of people here mention them. No idea if the free option is even still available. I have not used the service myself.
tierhive @backtogeek is very affordable, get that instead of going for free ones: for specs you mentioned, you can get vps at $0.81/month
IF you qualify check out FreeVPS and FOSSVPS, search the forums. Can recommend them both wholeheartedly.
