I thought I'd renew the 5TB server because I quite liked it, but when they clearly don't want to support VPS service anymore I think maybe it's time to go...

Apart from the power issues the 5TB server has been great for me, but yeah, seems clear it won't be available for renewal. It's a shame. I liked having an "all-in-one" VPS.

I think it would still be available for renewal but do you really want to take the risk? :/

    deadpool incoming?

Just because some users had cheap yearly VPS deals does not mean the rest of us providers and resellers of bare metal are having any issues. I and many others I personally know from group chats have over 100 bare metal servers with him without problems. I am responding strictly regarding your Deadpool comment :) He has moved on from those types of services, and if you have any issues, you should get in touch with him directly.

If he has moved on from VMs then he should offer the refund to the users for remaining time. I am happy to move on as well.

Can you point me towards the discord/group where guys have "100 dedis" with Hostslick, so we can politely ask for refund and leave him alone :)

You’re free to ask him directly for refunds if you have an issue with your service. My point was simply that not everyone using his services is having problems. It’s just the VPS which he discontinued. My reply was in response to “Deadpool” comments only, not refunds or his VPS services. The irony about “100 dedis” doesn’t really change that there are providers and resellers with large deployments still running fine. This information is verifiable on our ASN lookup. I’m not here to expose private group chats or turn this into a public pile-on.

You implied that VM users are cheapskates and Dedis customers deserve priority support as you mentioned a group chat that exists exclusively for them.

Also, How else do I get in touch with support directly when my tickets are not being answered to?

I never implied VM users are “cheapskates” or deserve worse treatment. I only said that from what I’ve personally seen, many dedicated server customers are still operating without issues in response to “DeadPooling”. That’s completely separate from whether other customers deserve refunds or support responses.

And regarding tickets if support genuinely isn’t replying, then I understand why people are frustrated. My original comment was only about the “Deadpool” claim, not an attempt to dismiss unresolved customer issues.

Shared Hosting is down since January. Please take a seat at the back of this support boat as it sinks. Women and children first!

Should Hostslick run a credit deposit deal?

"Reliable" and you can use the credit to renew your nonfunctional services...

    Email received today

    Dear Customer,

As part of our ongoing strategic transition announced earlier this month, HostSlick will officially discontinue all Shared Hosting and VPS services at the end of their respective billing periods.

You can read our previous announcements here:

    https://hostslick.de/clients/announcements/95/A-New-HostSlick-Experience-is-Loading-.html

    https://hostslick.de/clients/announcements/93/HostSlick-Strategic-Update-Full-Focus-on-Dedicated-and-Bare-Metal.html

    What does this mean?
Existing Shared Hosting and VPS services will continue operating normally until the end of their active billing cycle
Renewals for these services will no longer be available
Dedicated Servers and Bare-Metal services remain fully available and are now our primary focus
This strategic shift allows us to focus entirely on high-performance infrastructure, bandwidth-intensive workloads, and enterprise-grade dedicated solutions.

    Alternative Providers
We would also like to recommend some trusted friends and supporters for customers looking for VPS or Shared Hosting alternatives.
As a former VPS customer of os you will receive some exclusive discount with the following providers to move your VPS to:

Use code: GET20 for 20% off recurring
Use code: GET40 for 40% off the first month

We would like to sincerely thank all customers who used our Shared Hosting and VPS services over the years. Your support helped shape HostSlick into what it is today.

Mail received as well. Not any information about "lifetime" packages. I only see that mine is in this state (DirectAdmin panel not accessible since 2-3 months):

I don't know if anyone can trust HostSlick with dedicated servers, considering this provider failed at honouring so many other services.

I think people only use them for piracy and such where reliability doesn't matter too much

He refunded mine, but it was a small amount (basically I credited my account with the renewal cost because I was going to be on holiday when the invoice would be sent and require payment, but then it took the payment from my card anyway).

In the 2 years I had my server, it didn't have an operating system at all for 10 months, and then was just a backup haproxy for my cluster of web server frontends, but I'd never actually pushed any traffic through it.

So I think my total bandwidth used was probably less than 100GB over 2 years.

Good luck getting your money back!

  • Regardless of VPS downtime issues, I think I still got my money worth for the services I got. I hope there are some good storage deals to replace these servers soon...
