Does GreenCloudVPS prohibit users from accessing their website using IP addresses from other VPS pro

kaiwenkaiwen Member

Citing security concerns, this company refuses to allow users to access their website using IP addresses from other VPS providers—specifically RackNerd and CloudCone!

They're probably just using Cloudflare or similar and blocking subnets or ASNs associated with lower quality users. Unlikely they've manually added rules for those specific IPs

The issue is that no other VPS providers seem to have this problem. Moreover, GreenCloudVPS support explicitly stated that RackNerd and CloudCone—and even users utilizing GreenCloudVPS IPs—are unable to access the service. Whether due to technical glitches or other factors, this is simply not normal; furthermore, regarding their claim of "security reasons," one has to wonder why accessing every other website—including Cloudflare—poses no issues whatsoever.

Hats off to Greencloud for taking proper steps and banning anything using those ass ColoCrossing IP ranges

Yes, GreenCloudVPS even considers its own IPs insecure. I can't upload GreenCloudVPS customer service chat here, otherwise I'd show you what they said, and it's contradictory.

Isn't it absurd that accessing a GreenCloudVPS website using a GreenCloudVPS IP address was denied?

Not unusual for a host to block all datacenter/vpn/proxy ips. Personally not a fan of it but it is their choice.

I think I have answered your ticket. We do not block our own IPs and China ISPs, we only block high risk ASNs/ISPs. So what's your issue here?

Also, when I purchased your VPS service, I used RackNerd's VPS proxy to log in to your website to purchase and pay. Now you're refusing to let RackNerd users log in to your website, right?

You might have used an ASN that has not been blocked, then you log in again using a different ASN. We dont have time to just allow you to order then block your IP after that.

I don't think most Racknerd customers use their VPS servers to buy other services online...

No, it isn't. Fraud prevention mechanisms usually will not let you make a purchase from a datacenter IP. No matter if it belongs to greencloud, racknerd or tencent. You should use your own, residential IP.
    Is it this hard?

If you believe that RackNerd's IP users should not log in to your website to purchase services, is a refund possible?

You are still ignoring our responses and speak your own way. Your order has been cancelled and refunded. Your VPS will remain online for the next 24 hours to allow you to back up your data, just move on with other providers in this case.

Phone sold in China aren't allowed to support esim, that's why most of them are all dual SIM instead.

Absolutely, although personally, I use a 3HK physical SIM, which has a bunch of different geo-deals that are all HK$268 (about $34) with a year's validity. For China the most useful is for 40GB+5GB data that works in HK, Macao and mainland China. There's also an APAC deal that's 12GB+5GB that I use when I'm in Taiwan, a HK/UK/US/CA/AU/NZ for 30GB+5GB and a global one for 8GB+5GB.

Also, each time you top up I think HK$50 or HK$100, you get 1 month free data for use in HK, and 2 months free for double the top-up. So, if you time the top-ups well, you can keep all of that data allowance for use in China and not use any of it for the time spent in HK.

The first time you get it you need to show passport in HK, after that you can renew / change packages online, and you can have multiple packages active at once, so e.g. use your plentiful China data while saving the data allowance on a simultaneous APAC package.

Anyway, the important point is that all your data is routed via HK, so it completely bypasses the GFW.

This is a good response and a great way to deal with a disgruntled customer. Respect.

Thanks for the tips. I roughly spend $10/20GB/14~30 days or $7/10GB/7~14 days trip. Maybe I should take a look at their offers
