Promotional prices are getting more and more expensive these days, and they aren't even long-term offers.

    Hi!

I'm interested in the second server (KS-LE-2 with 2×4 TB HDD, £18.98 / £22.78 VAT incl. renewal). Is it still available for transfer? If so, I'm ready to take it and pay you the £25 transfer fee via PayPal F&F as requested.

Quick question: I don't currently have a Kimsufi / OVH account at all. Could you please advise what steps I need to take when registering a new one to ensure a smooth transfer from your UK account? Which regional site/extension should I use to sign up, and are there any specific requirements for the account details to make the transfer possible?

Let's move to PM to discuss the details and proceed with the deal as soon as we clear this up.

    Thanks!

if you do PP then make sure its sent as F&F or you might get scammed with a charge back.

AFAIK ~ You will not be able to accept a transfer with a new account unless you currently have or, have had a server within that account: from memory - previous transfers have always failed in this specific circumstance.

That being said, it may be worth while opening an account in the first instance - reaching out to OVH and asking them this exact question. They will be more informed than anyone giving advise on this forum (me included).

The account will need to be in the specific region that accepts UK transfers (EU) as far as I know - but again, I would advise reaching out to OVH instead of relying on hearsay (trust me bro)

As @ehab has pointed out - this will be PayPal FF.

Hi! Thanks for the solid advice, you are absolutely right — hosting providers often have strict anti-fraud triggers for brand new accounts, so it's definitely better to be safe than sorry.

I'm going to set up the account now and reach out to OVH support directly to clear this up straight from the horse's mouth. It will probably take me two or three days to get everything sorted and receive an official answer from them.

That being said, would you mind putting this server on hold for me for a couple of days? I'm still very interested in taking it. If support gives us the green light, I'll get back to you immediately to finalize the deal. If it turns out that their system restrictions make it impossible, I'll let you know right away (and I hope you'll excuse the hassle).

I'll keep you posted via PM as soon as I hear back from the host. Thanks!

    Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, I'll have to step down and drop my hold on this amazing server. I've spent some time fighting with the OVHcloud billing system and reaching out to their support, so I wanted to share the outcome to save everyone else some time.

I made several attempts to register a proper account using different billing addresses, countries, and direct links. However, due to strict geo-IP routing and automated billing triggers, the system consistently forced my account into the EU/Ireland subsidiary database, resulting in a standard European -ovh suffix (my current ID is yn23687-ovh).

I officially contacted OVHcloud support regarding this, and they explicitly confirmed that creating a UK subsidiary account (-uk handle) strictly requires a local UK billing address. They do not allow cross-subsidiary conversion or non-UK addresses within the UK branch.

That being said, I'll leave a tiny window open just in case. @OsirisBlack, if you are willing to spend a minute just to see if the automated system passes it, feel free to drop me a PM. We can try to initiate the "Change of Contacts" to my yn23687-ovh ID (which has a UK postal address inside but retains the EU suffix). Honestly, the chances are slim since OVH usually blocks transfers between -uk and -ovh subsidiaries, but the option is there if you want to risk it.

Otherwise, the server is free for the next person in line. If any actual UK residents are looking to grab this deal, go for it!

Thanks to the OP for his patience and for keeping it on hold for me.

UK is part of the IE subsidiary.

  • @NotFoundException said: UK is part of the IE subsidiary.

Support begs to differ. I just received an official reply from OVH support, and they explicitly stated that "only UK residents are allowed to create an account", meaning that a local billing address proving residency is strictly required.

So officially, they do treat them as separate branches. That being said, @OsirisBlack if you are still down to try initiating the transfer to my account (where I put a UK address, but without verified residency status and with the -ovh suffix) just as an experiment — I'm ready. Drop me a PM if you want to give it a shot. If not, no worries at all, the next person in line can take it.

I have transferred many servers from my UK account to EU accounts. It’s the same subsidiary. I have a -ovh username. You don’t even need to inform support to transfer the servers. You can do it directly from the account.

That should transfer with no problems afaik, although I still don't know if a transfer to a brand new account with no previous transactions will work ? I've seen problems with that previously.....

  • @OsirisBlack
I completely understand your concern, OVH can indeed be quite unpredictable with brand new accounts.

Let's not take unnecessary risks then. If there is someone else in line who has a 100% verified account and is ready to take it, I'm totally fine with dropping my hold so they can grab it.

However, if you still want to give it a shot just to see what happens, I'm down to try. Though I should probably warn you in advance: on top of the account being brand new, I currently have issues with using PayPal Friends & Family. So if you decide to go ahead with this transfer, it might turn into a bit of a hassle for you.

It's entirely your call — if you're up for the gamble, let's try it, but if not, I completely understand!

To be fair, he did send me crypto as his PayPal didn’t work. So I think it’s safe to still consider him doing deals with, obv. can change from transaction to transaction.

I think he is just trying to be extremely safe and has a huge language barrier, so he must use translator/AI.

I don't hide my situation from anyone and am open about the deal. If this is a problem for anyone, it's best to figure it out before starting.
