Hey, I have enabled host passthrough on your VPS.
We need to manually turn it off and on from the panel for the changes to take effect.
Tell me if I can do it, or you can do it yourself.

Now you should see Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5218 CPU

    IMPORTANT!

    CPU MODEL

For everyone who bought servers on NY, HK, and NL, we forgot to activate host passthrough cpu flag, so you will see a standard QEMU CPU.

Now its solved. We set it up generally on the new servers.
You need to manually turn off and on the VPS from the panel.
After that, you will see the real CPU model. This will enable special CPU instruction that you might need.

If still shows qemu, get back to me or open a support ticket so we enabled it specifically for you VPS.

P.S.: Let me check with my colleagues if switching an existing VPS from i440fx to Q35 is supported safely on our side. In general, Q35 makes sense for new Linux installations, but changing the machine type of an existing VM may require testing, because some operating systems can be sensitive to virtual hardware changes.

CPUs full compatibility is not getting passed to VM because of QEMU config. They need to change CPU mode on the VM... Clock speed confirms it is 5218.

On that note, can we request to be switched from i440fx to Q35? Current Linux distros don't really need i440fx as default anymore...it's slowly getting depreciated.

Thank you! I don't mind if it's destructive to VM itself :) I still have old providers vm alive to migrate things over quickly.

    IMPORTANT!

Thank you it works now <3

Your first post mentioned 85.121.244.250 as a test IP for Hong Kong, but the IP does not seem to respond to ICMP.

Is it possible to have a test IP for Hong Kong?

EDIT: Is it also possible to ask for Alpine Linux to be added as an OS, I added it in the client area, but it is not appearing in the 'other' category as an option to install.

Hmm ... seems my colleagues changed it ?! I will check it on Monday. Until then, you can ping any IP from 85.121.244.0/24 or 85.121.51.0/24. We have other ranges as well.

    🇭🇰 Hong Kong · 85.121.244.250

Oh! I found the Easter egg 🥚! This IP is not pingable ... Do I win a tasty HK prize?

    😀

Maybe my colleagues changed your IP address? I cannot find any VPS with IP address: 85.121.244.250

    Sorry, this was a joke.

Sorry, forgot to reply to the EDIT.
We do not have alpine linux templates, but you can upload your own iso and install any OS you want.
If you have or you want multiple servers with the same OS, I can create a snapshot of your server and add it for you as a template.
